The OU Advocacy Center is the nonpartisan public policy arm of the nation’s largest Orthodox Jewish organization‚ representing nearly 1,000 congregations nationwide and leads the OU’s advocacy efforts in Washington, DC, and state capitals. OU Advocacy engages leaders at all levels of government as well as the broader public to promote and protect the Orthodox Jewish community’s interests and values in the public policy arena.

 

Position Summary:

Our office is hiring a Development Associate. This role will support OU Advocacy’s Development department in addition to providing administrative support to the office. The Development Associate reports to the National Director of Development. This is a hybrid position, three days a week are work from home and two are in our office in lower Manhattan.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on prospective major gift donors
  • Oversee outreach and engagement of non-major gift donors
  • Data entry of pledges and manual lookups in donor database
  • Run and provide accurate and detailed donor reports
  • Support preparation of in-person and virtual OU Advocacy events
  • Maintain contacts and calendars, including donor renewal dates
  • Serve as an initial contact for phone and email inquiries
  • Provide general administrative support to the Executive Director and National Director of Development
  • Additional duties as requested

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience in the field of prospect research is strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with experience using various research tools and databases, such as Donor Search, Wealth-X, iWave, Wealth Engine, RelSci a plus.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to summarize data into concise, actionable reports.
  • Excellent collaborative and interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, efficient, self-motivated and flexible.
  • Familiarity with the Orthodox Jewish community and its philanthropic and political activities is preferred.
  • Proficient in handling administrative tasks including calendaring, travel arrangements, coordinating meetings, conference calls, etc.
  • Commitment to the organization's mission and values.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive material.
  • Experience with Velocity, another donor database, or gift entry is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 1-3 years of work experience in development or client services preferred but not required.

 

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is between $60,00 and $75,000, commensurate with experience.
