The Rabbi Barry H. Greene Early Childhood Center at Temple B’nai Jeshurun in Short Hills, New Jersey, is a vibrant, warm, welcoming, inclusive, and thriving Early Childhood Center with robust and engaging programming and curricula that nurture each child’s growth and development.

Our classrooms are bustling with creative programming, excitement, wonder, learning, laughter, friendships, and fun. Our developmentally appropriate, play-based, rich, emergent curriculum is implemented with the intention and expert guidance of our extraordinary teachers.

We are eager to hire a highly credentialed, motivated, enthusiastic, professional to join our team. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 · Collaborate with ECC Director to create dynamic, innovative, and progressive spiraling curriculum.

· Partner with Director to research and provide professional development for faculty.

· Assist with mentoring teachers in classroom management.

· Meet weekly with each Preschool 3’s and Pre-K 4’s class to introduce and reinforce pre-literacy skills to support emergent literacy. Provide weekly follow up practice and review these activities with the educators.

· Identify children with emerging skills that would benefit from reinforcement, establish individual goals and enrichment activities.

· Work with Director to support teachers with students with developmental delays and/or learning differences.

· Foster meaningful connections with teachers, staff, parents, and clergy.

· Support the maintenance of the appropriate and safe daily indoor and outdoor set-up of school.

· Collaborate with Director to write articles for the Temple newsletter focused on educational philosophy, trends, and parenting.

· Work with Director to develop and create curricula to engage early childhood families to participate in temple wide and ECC holiday programming.

· Oversee and attend ECC children’s HHD programming.

· Create teacher and specialists’ schedules.

· Assist the Director and leadership team in planning ECC special events.

· Partner with the Director and team to conceive, plan, and execute synagogue-wide family Tikkun Olam and cultural arts programs, fostering a bridge to our Religious Education Center.

· Collaborate with team to keep website current.

· Assist with managing the ordering of all supplies for all grade levels and programs.

· Supervise carpool arrival and dismissals.

· Update and maintain the ECC Handbook for parents.

· Ensure ECC health and safety protocols and procedures align with our State Licensing requirements and guidelines, including professional development requirements. Coordinate with licensing authority to maintain records and ensure compliance.

· Responsible for state funding and grants allocations.

· Collaborate with Director and team to create advertising and marketing for the ECC and Camp TBJ to promote programs.

· Manage Early Arrival and Extended Day programs. Plan curriculum, track and maintain attendance, staffing, substitutes, and submissions to billing department.

· Work with the Director and Associate Director of Camp TBJ to recruit and interview Camp counselors, manage inventory of supplies, create camp special events calendar.

 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

 · Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Master’s Degree in Education greatly preferred.

· Certificates and Licenses: Early Childhood or Elementary license with certification in NY or NJ, or equivalent.

· A minimum of five years prior Pre-K 4’s/Kindergarten teaching experience. Experience in teaching literacy and/or special education preferred.

· Candidate must be patient, flexible, energetic, self-motivated, creative, and adept at thinking of new and innovative ways to solve problems, collaborate with others, and create dynamic programming.

· Adept at implementing a curriculum to enhance the children’s spiritual experience of the beauty and joy of Jewish culture, tradition, and heritage. This includes the celebration of Shabbat, the Jewish holidays, Tikkun Olam, and our connection to Israel.

· Strong ability to work well with all children, including children who have a challenging time expressing themselves or those who present with developmental delays and/or learning differences.

· Possess strong writing and speaking skills; including a unique ability to speak with parents and colleagues with sensitivity and professionalism.

· Excellent computer skills with highly effective organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.

· Ability to manage purchases and to work within a budget.

· Thrive in a collaborative and high energy environment, and thoughtfully develop meaningful relationships with faculty.

· Strong leadership skills with a passion for providing warm, innovative, and positive interaction with our children, families, faculty, and staff.
