Teen and Youth Engagement Coordinator

Temple Aliyah, a vibrant Conservative egalitarian congregation in Needham, MA, is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic and professional individual to serve as Teen and Youth Engagement Coordinator, reporting to the Director of Congregational Learning, on a part-time or full-time basis. The core responsibilities for the Teen and Youth Engagement Coordinator will require an average 20 hours/week on a flexible week-to-week schedule. Core responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: creating and overseeing social and spiritual programming, leadership development, and experiential learning programs for Temple Aliyah teens (grades 6-12), as well as creating and coordinate programs for Temple Aliyah families with kids in grades K-5. This person will work closely with congregational lay leaders, clergy and professional staff.

This position may be expanded to include more hours up to full-time, by including one or more of the following responsibilities (based on candidate’s skills, experience, availabilty and interest): leading monthly youth Shabbat services, teaching in Mercaz Aliyah, Temple Aliyah’s religious school, or working on a larger vision of strategic planning and engagement for the full congregation.

The successful candidate must be able to engage positively with youth of all ages, have a demonstrated knowledge of Judaism, and serve as a good role model for our youth. The ideal candidate will have a degree from a four-year college or university, experience leading Jewish or other youth groups and youth-related programs, and experience with outreach and promoting programs, including a familiarity with social media. This is an exciting opportunity to work with teens and youth and to help them develop as leaders and engaged members of the synagogue community.

Salary range: $25,000-50,000 depending on hours and experience
