Overview
Kerem Shalom, a vibrant, progressive, 250-member synagogue in Concord, Massachusetts, seeks an energetic and organized individual to be a 20 hour/week Administrative Assistant (AA).
The AA will provide support needed to help ensure that our services, classes, programs, and other activities run smoothly and professionally. They also will help ensure that Kerem Shalom is a warm and welcoming place for members, visitors, and guests. While the work primarily will be done during weekday business hours, the AA will be asked to work on some evenings, weekends, and Jewish holidays. The AA will report to the Temple Administrator and work collaboratively with our Rabbi, Director of Education and Engagement, our Cantor/Director of Adult Programming, and, at times, with our lay leadership.
Candidates should have excellent organizational and communications skills and be committed to making the synagogue experience the best it can be for members, potential members, and guests. Knowledge of Jewish customs and celebrations is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
Working under the direction of the Temple Administrator and in collaboration with our professional staff and lay leadership, the AA will be responsible for a variety of tasks. Specific responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:
-
Helping organize and oversee logistics for community-wide activities and events: The AA will help plan, organize, and manage logistics for community-wide holiday celebrations, special events, monthly community dinners, and monthly Tot Shabbat dinners. This work will include tracking RSVPs, ordering food and supplies, setting up name tags and other materials, ensuring that we have adequate staffing (including childcare if needed), and at times, providing on-site support during celebrations, events, and dinners.
-
Providing ongoing support for Youth Education Programs: The AA will provide support for a wide variety of family and youth education programs–particularly our weekly Hebrew School Reimagined and 7th Grade classes; our monthly Holiday Preschool and Kindergarten; our monthly dinners for Hebrew School students and parents, our monthly Tot Shabbat dinners, and our regular family education programs.
