POSITION OVERVIEW

The Service Learning Program at Milken Community School is founded upon our Portrait of the Graduate: think well, take positive action and belong to something greater.  Our program seeks to raise student awareness of local and global issues, engage students in direct problem solving and relationship building to address these issues, and develop graduates with a lifelong practice of engagement, service, and reflection.  

The Director of Service Learning leads a 6-12 service learning team, is a member of our 6-12 integration team, and reports to the Head of Curriculum and Integration. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with the divisional service learning coordinators and Yozma coordinator to establish dates, times, and locations for grade-level, divisional, and whole school service learning experiences.
  • Identify opportunities for service learning integration within divisional academic curriculum.
  • Support subject teachers in developing units of work when integrating service learning inside the curriculum. 
  • Partner with Yozma coordinator to create club-based service opportunities for all students in grades 6-12. 
  • Establish communal partnerships that encourage student growth in leadership, advocacy, and Jewish social action and engagement. 
  • Integrate appropriate service opportunities across all current and future signature programs. 
  • Identify, vision, and implement service opportunities across Israel experiences and divisional trips (tiyulim). 
  • Partner with our external relations team to collaborate on joint projects involving admissions, alumni and parent programming. 
  • Other related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong sense of commitment to Milken Community School’s mission and The Milken Way.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills suited for interaction with parents, colleagues and students; persuasive and compelling case with sincerity and conviction. 
  • Excellent collaboration skills with internal and external partners.
  • Experience in and enthusiasm for classroom teaching.
  • Experience in and enthusiasm for instructional, managerial, and operational leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of the developmental needs of students and best practices of curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
  • Able to effectively multi-task in order to achieve results in a complex environment. 
  • A skilled communicator who can present a persuasive and compelling case with sincerity and conviction. 
  • Experience with leading off-campus trips and international excursions.


Standard On-Campus Hours

Start: M - F by 7:45 AM

End: M - Th 3:30 PM, F 2:30 PM

SALARY RANGE: $85,000 - $110,000
