Director Religious School

Congregation Beth Torah is a vibrant and busy Reform Community in the Greater Kansas City / Overland Park Jewish Community. With 300 households we are a growing community with an active and busy congregational life. The Weiner Religious School is a vital part of the Beth Torah Community and we are seeking a qualified, experienced and energetic Director to lead and grow the Weiner Religious School.

Reporting to the both the Executive Director and the Education Committee, you will be an educator with a passion for Jewish life, and, enriching the Jewish lives of others. You will lead by example in all areas. You will strive to mentor and manage our dedicated teaching Faculty, and, our impressive Madrichim. This position is responsible for year-round programming including holiday camps.

With formal qualifications in Education, you will also have a track record of leading through example and inspiring others. You will be able to provide specific examples of curriculum development, school event management, and, innovation in the classroom. Good to excellent Hebrew skills are advantageous. You will possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. You will be able to engage students of all ages, and, their families including multi-generational parents and grandparents. You will know how to mentor Faculty and have a proven track record in delivering professional development for Faculty members. You will collaborate easily and effectively with all stakeholders including Staff, Leadership, volunteers, congregants, and external community organizations.

The term of the contract will be negotiated with the successful applicant, with an initial renumeration range of $50,000 to $60,000. Fifteen (15) days of Paid Time Off are available within the first year. Sick Leave will be provided on an accrual basis. Ongoing salary development will be tied to performance and school growth. You will undergo a full background check, and working with children check as required by the State of Kansas (unless you are already approved – and provide evidence of such). You will be requested to provide three (3) professional references. Whilst Beth Torah is committed to work-life balance, there will be some out of hours work required. You will be available for an as soon as possible start date.
