Description

Build the Jewish school families choose.
Many religious schools simply run. The best ones inspire. At Shaare Torah, we’re building something exceptional: a warm, relationship-driven community where people know each other by name, feel comfortable showing up as they are, and are united by a shared commitment to raising Jewish children with pride, purpose, and connection. Our religious school has approximately 80 students, a committed base of families, and a community that is open to new ideas. There is energy here and a real desire to grow. We are seeking a leader who will work with the rabbi to guide Jewish learning and engagement across the congregation, from early childhood through adulthood, and serve as a visible advocate for vibrant Jewish life within and beyond the synagogue.

What You Will Do
You will lead our religious school and help shape Jewish learning and engagement across the congregation. The core responsibility is leading the school, with flexibility to expand the role based on your strengths and the needs of the community.

  • Provide overall leadership of the school from vision to daily execution.
  • Set curriculum goals and ensure student progress over time.
  • Hire, supervise, and support teachers, madrichim (teens), and specialists.
  • Build a culture of strong teaching and ongoing professional growth.
  • Support inclusive classrooms that meet diverse learning needs.
  • Oversee enrollment, recruitment, retention, and family communication.
  • Manage schedules, records, and systems so the program runs smoothly.

Engage families and strengthen community connections

  • Build strong relationships with students, parents, and educators.
  • Partner with families in their children’s Jewish growth.
  • Work with the rabbi to shape a meaningful B'nai Mitzvah experience.
  • Coordinate youth, family, and Shabbat programming.
  • Serve as a visible and welcoming presence in synagogue life.

Expand learning and engagement

  • Develop opportunities for Jewish learning beyond the school, including for teens, adults, and families.
  • Work with clergy and staff to connect learning, ritual, and community life.
  • Build relationships with local Jewish organizations, camps, schools, and partners.
  • Help the congregation think creatively about the future of Jewish education.

This role is designed to grow with the right candidate. We are open to shaping responsibilities that reflect the talents, experience, and interests you bring.

What You Are Building

  • A school community families are excited to be part of.
  • A clear and thoughtful educational vision with real progress over time.
  • A culture of excellence and support for teachers.
  • A parent community that feels connected and invested.
  • A B'nai Mitzvah experience that leads to continued involvement.
  • Opportunities for Jewish learning at all ages.
  • Stronger connections between the synagogue and the wider Jewish community.
  • New programs and partnerships shaped by your strengths.

  • You are a strong communicator across diverse audiences.
  • You work well with clergy, staff, and lay leaders.
  • You are comfortable in a visible leadership role.
  • You like building connections inside and outside the synagogue.

Jewish educational background

  • Ability to make Jewish learning meaningful and engaging.
  • Comfort teaching or leading learners of different ages.
  • Familiarity with Jewish tradition and practice.
  • Ability to lead youth services is helpful but not required.

Why This Role Matters

Our community is ready to grow. Families are engaged, relationships are strong, and there is real openness to building something better. We are looking for someone who can help create a Jewish learning experience that families choose year after year. We believe Jewish learning should continue well beyond bar or bat mitzvah and should be part of the life of the whole congregation. This role is an opportunity to help shape that future and make a lasting impact on our community.

Applicants should email resume and cover letter to [email protected].
