About the Program 

Temple Emanuel’s Kesher Afterschool Program is a warm, engaging, Hebrew-immersive Jewish learning environment for children in Kindergarten through Grade 5. We blend language, culture, and community through play, learning, and meaningful Jewish experiences.   

Think Jewish summer camp, but during the school year! 

Position Overview 

We are seeking caring, energetic, and responsible individuals to join our team as a K-1 teacher or a 2-3 teacher in our Hebrew-immersive afterschool program 

Schedule: 

• Kesher afterschool: Mondays & Wednesdays: 3:00 – 6:00 PM 

• Planning and enrichment time: Mondays & Wednesdays 10:00 AM-3:00 PM 

(Some flexibility with this schedule is possible under certain circumstances) 

Program Highlights 

• Conversational Hebrew using the proficiency approach 

• Yahadut (Judaic Studies) through Project-Based Learning 

• Coaching and collaboration on all lesson plans 

• Professional development 

• Hebrew-infused electives and enrichment opportunities 

• Fun family programming 

Additional Responsibilities: 

• Elementary age afterschool responsibilities, including attendance, free time supervision, snack, toileting support, transportation supervision (walking group or van route) 

• Fun, informal activity leadership 

• Arrival/dismissal supervision, end-of-day cleanup. 

Who You Are:  

• A passionate and engaging Jewish educator, experience in early childhood/Kindergarten education a plus for the K-1 position 

• Creative, flexible, and excited to try new things 

• Responsible  

• Fluent in spoken Hebrew 

Part-time salary range: $15,000-$25,000 commensurate with hours and experience.  Opportunities for full-time positions, when combined with positions in other Temple Emanuel education programs.
