Summer Waterfront Director Needed!

Do you love the water? Have a passion for watersports? Enjoy leading a team? and want to spend your summer under the sun working on a beautiful fresh water lake at the base of the white mountains in Maine? 

Look no futher! As the Head of Waterfront at Kingswood, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the waterfront program, including swimming, boating, sailing, skiing, canoeing, and kayaking. You will report to the Head of Areas and lead a team of waterfront staff to ensure the safe and enjoyable experience of campers at the waterfront. You will not live in camper cabins and will not be responsible for a cabin group.

Specifically you: 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive waterfront program that promotes water safety, skill development, and enjoyment of water activities for campers of all ages and abilities.
  • Coordinate and supervise all waterfront activities, including swimming, boating, sailing, skiing, canoeing, and kayaking, ensuring proper staffing levels and adherence to safety protocols at all times.
  • Provide guidance, instruction, and feedback to waterfront staff to enhance their skills and abilities in their respective areas, while promoting teamwork and professionalism.
  • Ensure that all necessary supplies, equipment, and facilities for the waterfront program are well-maintained, safe, and available for use, including boats, docks, lifeguard stations, and other waterfront infrastructure.
  • Enforce safety protocols and guidelines for all waterfront activities, including proper use of equipment, implementation of swim and boating rules, emergency response procedures, and supervision of campers and staff in and around the water.
  • Coordinate scheduling and staffing for the waterfront program, including assigning staff to specific areas and activities, creating work schedules, and monitoring staff performance and attendance.
  • Manage and maintain inventory of waterfront equipment, including boats, paddles, life jackets, sails, skis, and other equipment, ensuring adequate supplies are available for daily operations and special events.
  • Collaborate with other camp staff, including the Head of Areas and other program heads, to create a cohesive and well-rounded camp experience for campers, including participation in camp-wide events, competitions, and activities.
  • Assist with other camp activities and events as needed, including camp-wide games, evening programs, and special events.
  • Connect with campers through participation in evening programs and regular visits to cabins at bedtime to read stories, play guitar, or engage in other appropriate activities.

To do the job you must:

  • Have or be willing to possess a valid red cross lifeguard certificate
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a team
  • Be 21 years and older
  • Advanced certifications in watersports, boating or swimming preferred.
