Central Florida Hillel

Operations & Communications Associate

Location: Central Florida Hillel at the University of Central Florida
Position Type: Full-Time, Onsite
Reports To: Executive Director and Manager of Development & Special Operations

Role Overview

Help make Jewish life at one of the country's largest universities run smoothly, look great, and feel welcoming.

Central Florida Hillel is seeking a highly organized, proactive, and dependable Operations & Communications Associate to support the day-to-day operations and communications of our organization. If you are someone who notices what needs to be done, enjoys keeping things organized, communicates well, and is comfortable juggling multiple priorities, you will thrive in this role.

The Operations & Communications Associate will help ensure that our building is ready for students and guests, our programs and events are well organized, and our communications are timely, accurate, and engaging. You will work closely with our staff and regularly interact with students, parents, donors, community members, vendors, and visitors.

Central Florida Hillel is a busy, energetic, and mission-driven environment. We approach our work with a hospitality-first mindset and believe that every detail, from the way a room is prepared to the way an email is written, contributes to creating a Jewish home away from home for our students.

About the Role

This is a hands-on role for an early-career professional who enjoys variety and wants to develop experience across nonprofit operations, communications, events, and administration.

No two days will look exactly the same. You may spend part of your morning updating the website or preparing an email, coordinate with a vendor in the afternoon, and help prepare the building for a major event later that day.

We're looking for someone who takes initiative, follows through, communicates professionally, pays attention to details, and is willing to jump in wherever needed to help the organization succeed.

This is a full-time, onsite position at Central Florida Hillel at UCF, with occasional evening and weekend responsibilities connected to Shabbat, Jewish holidays, special events, and UCF game days.

What You'll Do

  • Help manage the daily operations of Central Florida Hillel and ensure our building is organized, welcoming, and ready for students, staff, and guests.
  • Support Hillel's communications through email, newsletters, website updates, social media, signage, and promotional materials.
  • Coordinate logistics and setup for programs, Shabbat dinners, holidays, meetings, donor gatherings, and special events.
  • Work with staff, vendors, caterers, maintenance providers, designers, printers, and other partners to keep projects and events moving.
  • Help build strong organizational systems so information, supplies, spaces, communications, and events stay organized.
  • Serve as a collaborative member of the Hillel team, stepping in where needed and helping solve problems as they arise.

Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day operations of the Hillel building and office.
  • Ensure public spaces, meeting rooms, offices, and event areas are organized and prepared for daily use.
  • Coordinate room setup and breakdown for programs, meetings, Shabbat dinners, and special events.
  • Monitor building, office, and event supplies and coordinate ordering, inventory, and restocking.
  • Identify facility and operational needs and coordinate with appropriate staff, vendors, maintenance providers, and service professionals.
  • Draft, proofread, format, and distribute emails, newsletters, invitations, announcements, and other communications.
  • Maintain and update website content to ensure information is current and accurate.
  • Assist with social media content creation and scheduling.
  • Create and update flyers, signage, registration information, and basic promotional materials.
  • Help maintain consistent branding and messaging across Hillel communications.
  • Maintain email lists, distribution lists, and other communication systems.
  • Coordinate event logistics including setup, registration, food and beverage, signage, audiovisual needs, and guest check-in.
  • Assist with parking operations, deliveries, food trucks, vendors, and other building and event logistics.
  • Prepare materials for staff meetings, board meetings, donor meetings, programs, and special events.
  • Provide administrative and project support to the Manager of Development & Special Operations and other members of the Hillel team.
  • Provide occasional support for donor communications, mailings, stewardship materials, and fundraising events.
  • Perform other duties, projects, and responsibilities as needed to support the work and mission of Central Florida Hillel.

Who You Are

  • Highly Organized — You enjoy creating order, keeping track of details, and making sure things get done.
  • A Strong Communicator — You write clearly, communicate professionally, and understand that tone and presentation matter.
  • Proactive — You notice what needs attention and take initiative rather than waiting to be asked.
  • Detail-Oriented — You catch the small things that can make a big difference in an event, communication, or guest experience.
  • A Problem Solver — When something changes or goes wrong, you stay calm, find solutions, and keep things moving.
  • Hospitality-Minded — You care about how people experience a space and want students, families, donors, and guests to feel welcomed.
  • A Team Player — You are comfortable collaborating with others, asking for help when needed, and stepping outside your normal responsibilities when the team needs you.
  • Flexible and Adaptable — You are comfortable working in an environment where priorities can shift quickly and every day may look different.

What You'll Bring

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort interacting with students, parents, donors, board members, community members, vendors, and visitors.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office.
  • Comfort learning new technologies, databases, registration platforms, and communication tools.
  • Experience with Canva, social media, email marketing, website management, or similar platforms is a plus.
  • Previous experience in operations, communications, events, administration, hospitality, nonprofits, or a related field is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Jewish traditions, holidays, and communal life is helpful but not required.
  • Comfort assisting with event setup and breakdown, moving supplies, organizing spaces, and other reasonable physical tasks associated with building and event operations.
  • Availability for occasional evening and weekend responsibilities.

What You'll Receive

  • Salary of $47,000–$60,000, commensurate with experience.
  • Hands-on experience across nonprofit operations, communications, event management, and organizational administration.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and increased responsibility within a growing organization.
  • The opportunity to work as part of a collaborative team serving one of the largest Jewish student communities in the country.
  • A workplace where your work has a direct impact on the experiences of Jewish college students every day.
