About the Role
The Sephardic Community Center is seeking a Director of Marketing & Communications to lead how we present, communicate, and connect with our community.
Reporting to the CEO, this role sits at the center of the organization. It is responsible for shaping our brand, leading creative direction, and ensuring that our programs and communications are clear, compelling, and consistent.
This is a high-volume, fast-moving environment with multiple stakeholders. Priorities will evolve, and this role requires someone who can adapt quickly while maintaining quality and focus. You will lead a small internal team and external partners, while remaining personally accountable for the quality and output of the work.


What You’ll Own

Program Marketing & Engagement (Primary Focus)

Lead marketing across all program areas, ensuring strong visibility, participation, and engagement
Partner closely with program leaders to translate priorities into clear, effective marketing
Build simple, repeatable systems to improve how programs are promoted across channels
Ensure marketing is timely, coordinated, and reflects the quality of the Center                                                                                                            Balance competing priorities across programs, with clear judgment on what matters most and when

Creative Direction & Design (Hands-On)

Serve as the creative lead for the organization, setting the standard for visual and creative output
Design and contribute directly to materials across digital, print, and campaigns as needed
Oversee and guide internal and freelance design resources to ensure quality and consistency
Maintain a high standard of taste and quality, with the judgment to refine and push work to a stronger final product

Content, Voice & Channels

Own the voice of the Center across all communications
Lead development of content across email, social, website, and campaigns
Ensure output is clear, cohesive, and aligned across channels

Fundraising & Executive Communications

Develop fundraising and sponsorship materials, including donor decks and campaign narratives
Partner with the CEO and Board Chair on key communications and special projects                                                                                                      Translate programs and impact into clear, compelling materials that support giving

Magazine & Key Publications

Oversee development and production of the Center’s magazine
Ensure a high standard of quality, relevance, and consistency in editorial and design
Partner with internal stakeholders to shape content that reflects the community

Marketing Structure & Clarity

Bring clarity to how the organization communicates across programs and audiences
Establish practical workflows and expectations to improve speed and consistency
Ensure marketing is aligned, focused, and easy to understand across the Center
Lead a small, hands-on team across design, content, and social media
Manage freelance creative resources as needed


What We’re Looking For

 8–12+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or creative roles
 Strong creative and design ability, with a willingness to execute, not just direct
 Actively uses AI and modern creative tools to enhance how work is developed, produced, and scaled across marketing and design
 Experience operating in fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environments
 Ability to simplify messaging and bring structure to complex organizations
 Strong judgment and communication skills, with the ability to navigate competing priorities and stakeholders while maintaining clarity and standards

 Programs are consistently well-promoted, well-attended, and easy to understand
 Creative output is clear, cohesive, and elevated across all channels
 Messaging is consistent and aligned across the organization
 The magazine and key communications reflect a high standard of quality
 Fundraising materials are compelling and effective
 Internal stakeholders are well-supported, with marketing that is responsive, structured, and improves the quality and clarity of their work


Salary Range: $120,000 – $130,000. Final compensation will be based on experience, skills, and qualifications. Excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, vacation, sick pay, and holidays (including Jewish).
