Mosaic Law Congregation, Sacramento's largest Conservative synagogue, is seeking a dynamic Director of Education and Youth. This talented individual will have a history in experiential education and is an "outside the box" thinker. The Director of Education and Youth is an integral part of the Jewish professional team within the operation of Mosaic Law Congregation and its programs. In consultation with the Rabbi, the Cantor, the Educational Committee and the Board of Trustees at large and the Faculty, the Director of Education and Youth is responsible for:
Curriculum
- Developing and implementing the curriculum and the course of study for the religious school
- Selecting and ordering textbooks/preparing educational materials
- Developing academic standards, including measurement tools
- Coordinating teacher in-services and staff development days
- Coordinating orientation days before the start of school.
General Administration of the Religious School (K -7th grades) and Shabbat Morning Programs.
- Developing and implementing budget recommendations
- Achieving fundraising goals, as set by the Director and the Board
- Keeping school records, including enrollment and classification of students
- Setting the yearly calendar of events
- Recruiting, hiring, and supervising of teachers.
- Managing the budget of the teachers' salaries, in accordance to the annual budget of Mosaic Law. and coordinating substitute teaching staff as necessary on behalf of the teaching staff
- Developing and implementing Religious School/Youth Group policies and standards in such areas as classroom management procedures, anti-bullying policies, attendance/tardy policies, faculty/advisor responsibilities, evaluation of job performance, compensation, and program evaluation
- Work with B'nai Mitzvah Committee on appropriate standards for Bar & Bat Mitzvah curriculum
- Work with Religious School families to support/staff volunteer activities such as Shababba, Purim Fair. Opening and Closing of Religious School events.
General administration of the Youth Group programs, including Perachim, B'nai Mazel, Kadima, USY, and any other programs that may be developed. See age groups below.
- Setting the yearly calendar of events with the advisors
- Recruiting, hiring, and supervising Youth Group advisors and the administrative assistant
- Coordinating the use of synagogue facilities for Youth Group purposes
- Marketing the Youth Groups to the community as needed
- Achieving fundraising goals, as set by the Director and the Board
Reporting Structure: This role will report to the Executive Director.

Salary: $46,000 -$52,000 per year as part of an incentive-based salary program. This would be a base salary + incentive bonuses paid for growth and retention of school children paying tuition.
Vacation: 15 paid days + all Jewish Holidays observed by Mosaic Law Congregation + select secular holidays
