Shir Ami is a vibrant and welcoming Jewish synagogue and community center located in Bucks County, PA. Through meaningful programming, we create opportunities for deep connection and a shared commitment to Jewish values. As we celebrate our 50th anniversary, we are building on a strong foundation while thoughtfully evolving how we engage our members, strengthen relationships, and expand our impact.

Position Overview

We are seeking a relationship-driven, creative, and highly organized professional to serve as our Membership & Adult Life Program Coordinator. This role sits at the heart of community life at Shir Ami, blending program development with meaningful relationship-building.

This individual will help create vibrant, engaging experiences for our Active Adult community while also serving as a welcoming guide for prospective and new members across all generations. It is a role for someone who understands that belonging is built through both programming and personal connection, and who is excited to help people find their place within our community.

Schedule: 25 Hours/Week (Flexible, but ideally Tuesday–Friday, 9:00 AM–2:00 PM). Some weekends and evening work will be required based on programs and events.

Key Responsibilities

Active Adult Programming (Approx. 70%)

  • Develop, coordinate, and oversee a consistent calendar of meaningful, engaging programming for Shir Ami’s Active Adult community examples:
    • Guest speaker events (authors, local experts, wellness professionals)
    • Live music or small concerts (jazz, acoustic, tribute acts)
    • Social games and clubs (Mahjong, Canasta, book club, coffee meetups)
    • Wellness programs (yoga, meditation, fitness classes)
    • Day trips and outings (theater, museums, local restaurants or cultural sites)
  • Plan and execute a mix of weekly offerings and special events that foster connection, learning, and community
  • Work closely with the Adult committee and Director of Education to shape programming vision, explore new ideas, and ensure alignment with congregational goals
  • Continuously evaluate programs through participation, feedback, and outcomes, refining offerings to meet evolving interests and needs
  • Build relationships with participants to deepen engagement and encourage ongoing involvement
  • Coordinate logistics for programs, including scheduling, communication, materials, and day-of execution
  • Collaborate with clergy and staff to integrate Active Adult programming into broader congregational life

Membership & Engagement (Approx. 30%)

  • Serve as the first point of contact for prospective members, offering warm, personalized outreach and guidance through the membership journey
  • Manage the full membership pipeline, including tracking inquiries, timely follow-ups, tours, and onboarding touchpoints
  • Create a thoughtful and seamless onboarding experience for new members, ensuring they feel welcomed, connected, and supported from the start
  • Develop and implement strategies to integrate new members into the life of the congregation, including hosting 3 intentional engagement events annually:
    • Welcome Shabbat Dinner (Fall)
    • New Member Brunch (Winter)
    • New Member Cocktail Hour (Spring)
  • Partner with staff and lay leaders to identify meaningful pathways for involvement based on individual interests and life stages
  • Work closely with the Membership & Engagement Committee, providing leadership, insights, and coordination to strengthen membership growth and retention efforts
  • Track engagement trends and provide feedback to leadership to inform strategy and improve the overall member experience
