Assistant Director of Youth and Family Programming Job Description 

The Assistant Director of Youth and Family Programming will inspire our youth to embrace and sustain their connection to Jewish life. The Assistant Director of Youth and Family Programming will work with our Director of Youth and Family Programming and Director of Lifelong Learning to coordinate and supervise youth programs for Congregation Beth Emeth under the BE Teens and BE Kids banners, and through family programs. The Assistant Director of Youth and Family Programming serves as a positive Jewish role model and mentor, sharing our passion for Jewish living, learning, and building community. 

Much of this position will include programs during which younger children (preschool and elementary school) learn, play, and celebrate, alongside their parents. An ideal candidate for this position is comfortable and skilled in facilitating community and individual engagement across age groups and life stages.

Responsibilities will include: 

  1. Planning, scheduling, publicizing, and executing for all BE Kids (approximately 7 events per year) and Family Programs (approximately 3 events per year).  
  2. Assisting the Director of Youth and Family Programming in the planning and implementation of specific synagogue-wide events, including our annual Purim carnival, sleepovers, and off-site events.
  3. Promoting all events utilizing email, social media, and printed media. Event promotion will include networking and word-of-mouth, the creation of original promotional materials, and the timely provision of materials for synagogue and community publications. 
  4. Ensuring that all NFTY and Congregation Beth Emeth rules and regulations are followed at all events.  
  5. Attend monthly staff meetings with the Director of Lifelong Learning (can be virtual). 
  6. Work closely with the lay-led Youth Committee. 

The professional may be asked by the DoLL to take on other responsibilities as appropriate for the position. 

Reports to DLL and the Director of Youth and Family Programming

Status: part-time (4-5 hours per month with additional hours as agreed) 

Department: youth and family 

Schedule: One Saturday or Sunday per month (to be scheduled with DLL and DYFP), other services/holidays as mutually agreed; one meeting per month, as mutually scheduled, with DLL and DYFP.  And additional preparation time, as needed. 

Salary Range: $150-200 paid monthly 

This position can be combined with midweek Hebrew School teaching and/or online Hebrew tutoring for additional compensation.
