Education Covenant Project “ECP” – Transforming How Jewish Education is Funded

A National Initiative to Eliminate Parent Tuition Responsibility at Jewish Day Schools

Position Overview

The Executive Director will serve as the founding senior executive responsible for implementing and scaling a national initiative to eliminate parent tuition responsibility by leveraging the new 100% federal tuition tax credit. The role is expected to evolve rapidly during the initial 24–36 months as the initiative scales from pilot communities to national reach.

Working in close partnership with an actively engaged Board of Directors and an established marketing consultant, the Executive Director will be the primary liaison to participating schools, responsible for coordinating community engagement, donor education, fundraising execution, and operational implementation across multiple schools and communities in the US.

Core Responsibilities

Strategic & Organizational Leadership

  • Execute the Board-approved multi-phase strategy, with authority over day-to-day execution and coordination across schools and communities, vendors and partners.
  • Manage day-to-day operations and build appropriate organizational infrastructure for ECP.
  • Hire, manage, and oversee staff, consultants, and vendors as the initiative scales.
  • Provide regular reporting, analysis, and recommendations to the Board.

Community Engagement & Liaison Role

  • Represent ECP consistently and credibly, serving as the visible and trusted face of the project.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between ECP and participating local schools and communities.
  • Coordinate closely with Board members in recruiting and onboarding initial schools.
  • Work with school and community leaders in setting, refining and achieving fundraising goals tied to elimination of parent tuition responsibility.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with rabbis, school leadership, lay leaders, and communal professionals.
  • Support schools in establishing or aligning with appropriate Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGOs), as needed.
  • Ensure consistent communication, progress tracking, and issue resolution at the school and community level.

Donor Education, Marketing & Fundraising Execution

  • Lead schools in implementing donor education efforts around the $1,700 “no-cost” tax-credit donation.
  • Work collaboratively with the retained marketing consultant to deploy branding, messaging, and donor-facing materials.
  • Lead on-the-ground execution of donor engagement strategies, including community presentations, parlor meetings, ambassador programs, and gamification activities.
  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit anchor and matching donors in coordination with Board members and school leadership.
  • Ensure donor commitments meet school/community and national fundraising targets.

Partnerships & Operational Infrastructure

  • Oversee implementation of online platforms to collect donor commitments and to drive donor commitments through to completed, compliant donations.
  • Assist schools with coordination of operational needs between schools, SGOs, and technology vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and nonprofit requirements.

Performance Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Track progress against parent participation, donor commitment, and revenue goals.
  • Conduct regular evaluations with schools and the Board to assess performance.
  • Adjust tactics and execution plans based on data and stakeholder feedback.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, highly relational, comfortable working across diverse Jewish communities, and able to balance strategic planning with hands-on execution.

Required

  • Senior leadership experience in nonprofit, communal, or mission-driven organizations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-management skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a collaborative, Board-engaged environment.

Preferred

  • Strong understanding of Jewish communal structures and day school ecosystems.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, donor education, or campaign execution.
  • Experience with tax-credit scholarship programs or SGOs.

Reporting & Compensation

  • Reports to the Board of Directors.
  • Competitive compensation commensurate with experience, with potential performance-based incentives.
