Position Overview
Temple Isaiah seeks a strategic, organized, and community-minded Marketing & Communications Strategist to oversee the congregation’s overall communications vision. This role brings together the many voices, programs, and priorities of the temple into a clear, coordinated communications strategy, integrating efforts across departments and program areas so communications are aligned, timely, and meaningful for our community. The position focuses on strategy, messaging, planning, prioritization, and brand voice, providing editorial oversight to ensure clear, consistent, and engaging communications across all channels, with an emphasis on strategic direction, rather than day-to-day content production.
The ideal candidate is a strong writer and editor with a big-picture mindset, sound judgment, and a commitment to the mission of the organization. This role partners closely with the Graphic Designer & Digital Content Producer, as well as clergy, staff and volunteer leaders, to translate strategy into high-quality, cohesive content that reflects Temple Isaiah’s mission and values.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Communications Strategy
- Develop and oversee a comprehensive, temple-wide communications and marketing strategy that integrates initiatives across departments and program areas into a coordinated, strategic plan.
- Maintain a communications calendar aligned with worship, holidays, programs, values, and learning opportunities
- Identify key congregational segments and develop tailored messaging and campaigns
- Develop channel and audience strategies to reduce communication overload and improve relevance
- Ensure messaging fosters pride, belonging, and participation
- Take an already strong marketing and communications system and bring new ideas and innovation
Content Oversight & Brand Voice
- Establish and maintain a clear, consistent brand voice across all platforms
- Write, edit, and proofread copy for emails, newsletters, website, and social media
- Serve as final editor to ensure clarity, tone, and accuracy
- Guide content priorities and storytelling in collaboration with staff, clergy and volunteer leaders
Digital Marketing & Platforms
- Oversee and optimize email marketing and social media strategy
- Manage and optimize website content and user experience
- Use tools such as Constant Contact and CRM/database systems effectively
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Track and analyze engagement metrics and campaign performance
- Use data to refine strategies and improve outcomes
- Provide insights and recommendations to staff and leadership
Collaboration & Community Engagement
- Partner with colleagues and volunteer leaders to support program goals
- Balance strategic thinking with responsiveness and strong customer service
- Foster understanding, collaboration, and calm problem-solving
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in marketing or communications
- Strong writing, editing, and messaging skills
- Proficiency with marketing tools such as Constant Contact, CRM platforms, and analytics tools
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strategic thinker with a creative, curiosity-driven approach
- Interest in and ability to work in a house of worship with engaged members, volunteer leaders, and clergy
- Jewish communal experience preferred

Compensation & Benefits
- Part-time (approximately 20 hours/week)
- Salary will be prorated from the full-time range of $75,000–$80,000, commensurate with experience
- Hybrid schedule possible
- Temple Isaiah offers generous paid time off, including federal and Jewish holidays
- Some work on Jewish holidays may be required
