About JCRC-NY:

The Jewish Community Relations Council of New York (JCRC-NY), a proud UJA-Federation of NY agency, serves as the primary community relations agency for the Jewish community in the metropolitan New York area. As an active force in New York civic and communal life, JCRC-NY seeks to strengthen existing partnerships and build new relationships with diverse leaders in our city to advance the values, interests, and security of the New York Jewish community and build a more interconnected New York for all.  JCRC-NY’s key objectives are: (1) Be a common table to cultivate understanding and joint action amongst diverse groups within the Jewish community; (2) Cultivate deeper relationships with the broader New York community to address critical issues and engender a shared society; (3) Ensure the security of the Jewish community in the face of rising antisemitism; and (4) Foster increased understanding and appreciation for the Jewish community's relationship with Israel among diverse groups of New Yorkers. 

About the Position:

The Program Coordinator, Israel and Jewish Affairs, is a critical member of the JCRC-NY team with a wide range of responsibilities supporting activities and advocacy initiatives that advance the community relations agenda.  JCRC-NY seeks to intensify its efforts to execute programs and campaigns that serve as resources to public officials, diverse community and faith leaders, education leaders, and others in order to deepen understanding of, connections to, and support for the Jewish community and Israel.  This position is full-time (40 hours per week) and requires working some evenings and weekends (Sundays) throughout the year. The program coordinator reports directly to the Vice President, Israel and Jewish Affairs and must be based in the New York metropolitan area.

Responsibilities include:

  • Planning, content development, promotion, and coordination of programs, activities, and events, including high-level briefings, conference calls, webinars, activism, and community organizing.
  • Conducting outreach and communicating effectively with influential leaders within and outside the Jewish community in the New York area, including clergy, executives, public officials and their staff members, university administrators, and faculty.
  • Implementing local advocacy campaigns on issues of concern to the Jewish community.
  • Assisting with all logistical aspects of study tours to Israel, including recruitment, insurance, itineraries, rosters, pre- and post-tour data collection and analysis, and alumni engagement.
  • Ensuring that administrative tasks are resolved in a timely, accurate, and professional manner, and that records are kept up-to-date.
  • Serving as a resource to universities dealing with difficult conversations related to Jewish students.
  • Supporting and assisting the Celebrate Israel Parade team in organizing and producing all aspects of this annual mega-event, reporting in this case to the Parade Director.
  • Drafting and editing grant applications, reports, policy documents, and other materials as needed.  
  • Completing additional tasks as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Commitment to JCRC-NY's mission and values, among them support for the Jewish community’s interests and Israel.
  • A strong sense of professionalism, including the ability to work collaboratively and think critically and strategically in a fast-paced environment.
  • An enthusiastic, detail-oriented team player with significant attention to accuracy and nuance, with an ability to manage multiple and competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of the diversity and complexity of the New York Jewish community and the State of Israel as well as the challenges and issues facing they each face.
  • Ability to coordinate scheduling and meetings, and experience successfully planning and executing events, programs, or campaigns from concept to completion.
  • Strong sense of self-awareness and ability to engage stakeholders, conduct outreach to diverse community leaders, and foster relationships in a positive manner.
  • Fluency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications and Google Suite (mail, drive, docs, calendar, and sheets)
  • Demonstrated skill in creating content and materials for diverse audiences (writing, graphic design, presentations, etc.), ability to work with graphics and familiarity with Canva, HTML, Publisher, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Adobe Acrobat a plus.
  • Social media savviness and experience in leveraging digital platforms for outreach, engagement, and campaigns a plus.
  • Hebrew language skills, while not required, would be considered an asset.

Compensation:

  • $60,000-$75,000, depending on experience
  • Benefits package, paid vacation, personal/sick days
