TEACHER POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION SUMMARY:   The Teacher will be responsible for managing and monitoring a class of children, ensuring that they play and interact in a safe, nurturing, and appropriate environment, and interacting effectively with other staff and parents.

REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE.   The successful candidate should have the following: 

  • Highschool GED and fully conversant in spoken and written English language
  • 18 years of age and S. Citizen or permit to work in the U.S.
  • Preferred experience with childcare and/or elementary education
  • Comply with all requirements of the Minimum Guidelines, which is the childcare regulation of the Texas Health and Human Services
  • Preferred experience or knowledge of the Minimum Guidelines
  • Ability to successfully pass state criminal background check
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Complete the City of Fort Worth’s Online Childcare Center Training Course (managed by the Environmental Services Department of Consumer Health
  • Complete mandated reporter training or willing to take training
  • Proficiency in technology, including, but not limited to, email, smartphone applications, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to communicate effectively, compassionately, confidently, and clearly to inspire and empower children and gain trust of parents
  • Meet testing requirement for Tuberculosis and comply with vaccination requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.  

Confidentiality:

  • You agree to maintain strict confidentiality regarding the children, staff, board members, and their respective families, as well as, security and emergency protocols, internal operations, financial information, grant and donor data, and other non-public, proprietary information of the Center, except when required by law or regulatory authority to disclose, or to prevent imminent harm.

Instruction & Curriculum Delivery:

  • Align general studies instruction with applicable guidelines from the Texas Education Agency (if any, as may apply to private schools)
  • Be aware of and follow Minimum Guidelines, which are the childcare regulations issued by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services
  • Developing a schedule for the children to maintain throughout the day
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and developmental levels
  • Employ age-appropriate behavior management techniques consistent with school policy
  • Support the social, emotional, and moral development of the children

Compliance & Safety:

  • Follow all safety protocols, sign students and visitors in, and release children only to authorized individuals.
  • Report incidents, injuries, or suspected abuse/neglect in accordance with Texas law, and report all suspicious behavior to supervisor, security, or local law enforcement (911)
  • Participate in required safety drills and trainings
  • Follow all health, safety, sanitation, and emergency procedures
  • Establish and maintain a structured, respectful, and positive classroom environment
  • Ensuring the children have good hygiene and changing diapers as necessary
  • Cleaning interactive areas throughout the day
  • Preparing meals and snacks for the kids
  • Maintain required student supervision ratios at all times

Assessment & Reporting:

  • Evaluate student progress through formal and informal assessments
  • Maintain accurate academic and behavioral records
  • Prepare report cards and progress reports

Parent & Community Engagement:

  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences and provide ongoing communication
  • Build professional and respectful relationships with parents and families
  • Communicate student progress, concerns, and achievements regularly
  • Support school events, Jewish holidays, and community programming

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions
  • Maintain continuing education hours (including any required childcare training)
  • Collaborate with other teachers and administrative staff
  • Uphold confidentiality of student and family information

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, sit on and get up from floor, and engage actively with children
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations

RECORDS:  You may be required to provide copies of all relevant training, vaccination records, your government identification, and other information, as requested.
