Temple Beth Hillel, a Reform synagogue with 400 member units in the Los Angeles area, seeks to hire part time Religious School Educators. Our religious School mission is to have Jewish life play a rich and vital role in the lives of both our students and their families. We strive to fulfill this mission through song and prayer, art and dance, laughter and joy, field trips and dialogues, friendships and memories. Building a sense of Jewish community among our students is also an important goal.
Religious School Specialist Teachers
We are seeking energetic, positive, creative Jewish educators to join our Religious School team. We are looking for teachers who love working with children, build warm classroom communities, and help students experience Judaism as joyful, meaningful, relevant, and alive.
Specialist Teachers
Specialist teachers bring their own passions, talents, and creative expertise and connect them to Jewish learning. We are looking for out-of-the-box educators who can help students explore Judaism through art, music, STEM, sports, theater, storytelling, games, LEGO, D&D, movement, nature, cooking, or another creative area.
We are especially excited about teachers who can:
- Connect your passion to Jewish learning
- Bring creative, hands-on Jewish experiences
- Teach through art, music, STEM, sports, and more
- Lead theater, LEGO, D&D, games, or storytelling
- Help students explore Judaism in new ways
- Turn big ideas into joyful Jewish learning
- Bring flexibility, imagination, and positive energy
Responsibilities
Teachers will plan and lead age-appropriate, experiential lessons; create a safe and inclusive classroom environment; communicate with the education team; participate in occasional staff meetings or trainings; and help students build a positive connection to Judaism and synagogue life.
Qualifications
Prior teaching or camp experience is helpful, but not required for all roles. We are looking for people who are reliable, kind, enthusiastic, creative, and excited to work with children in a Jewish setting. Hebrew skills, Jewish content knowledge, classroom experience, or specialist-area expertise are all welcomed.
