Job Overview

The Lower School Hebrew/Judaic Educator will provide dynamic and interactive instruction to students, guiding them in their acquisition of the Hebrew language along with teaching Judaics. The educator will tailor learning experiences to meet the diverse needs of each student, fostering a strong sense of belonging to the Jewish people and cultivating connections with Medinat Yisrael (the State of Israel) and Am Yisrael (the Jewish people).

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Set high academic standards for every student in class while still adapting to the individual needs of each student.
  • Prepare lesson plans in advance that teach core objectives and principles based on the LGI’s (learning goal indicators) for each grade and level.
  • Track and report performance data to determine where changes need to be made and which strategies and methods are working.
  • Attend special events held by the school and engage with students and/or parents in an appropriate, friendly way.  
  • Attend work a maximum of eight working days prior to the commencement of classes and two administrative days following the conclusion of the spring semester of the school year.
  • Participate in the ongoing curriculum development of the school and attend all teacher meetings.
  • Communicate with the parents of each student.
  • Prepare and present regular oral and written reports to parents concerning their child’s education and welfare.
  • Maintain student and family confidentially both on and off the Posnack School campus.
  • Thoughtfully integrate instructional technology—including emerging AI tools—into planning, collaboration, differentiation, and assessment, in alignment with the school’s educational philosophy.
  • Perform other responsibilities as necessary for the efficient operation of the department and school, including lunch duties, carpools, and clubs.
  • Arrive on time for all scheduled workdays, maintain good attendance, and communicate respectfully with colleagues, adhering to all requirements outlined in the Employee Handbook.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Education, Hebrew Language, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in Elementary Judaic Studies and Hebrew Language instruction.
  • The candidate must have a current CAJE teaching certificate in Hebrew Language or willing to obtain within the first year. 
  • Skills: excellent classroom management, strong organizational skills, and the ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students. Comfort with instructional technology and a commitment to innovative teaching practices are important.
  • Experience with the Tal Am curriculum and teaching certification are considered a plus.
