About the Congregation

Beth Torah Benny Rok Campus is a vibrant, multicultural, multigenerational Conservative synagogue in Northeast Miami-Dade County. With over 1000 member families, we are a warm, welcoming, and inclusive community grounded in the values of Torah, Avodah, and G’milut Chasadim.

Our congregation is deeply committed to lifelong learning, meaningful worship, social action, and strong connections to Israel. We pride ourselves on being both traditional and evolving—serving a diverse membership that spans generations, backgrounds, and levels of observance.

Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic, compassionate, and engaging Associate Rabbi to join our collaborative clergy team. This role offers a unique opportunity to grow within a supportive environment, with the potential to transition into senior leadership over time—continuing our longstanding tradition of internal rabbinic succession.

The Associate Rabbi will work closely under the leadership of the Senior Rabbi and alongside the Rabbi Emeritus and Cantor, contributing meaningfully to all aspects of synagogue life.

Key Responsibilities

Community Engagement & Relationship Building

  • Foster deep and meaningful relationships across all segments of the congregation
  • Focus on engaging younger families, teens (pre- and post–b’nai mitzvah), young professionals, and adults
  • Build bridges across our diverse, multicultural membership
  • Participate actively in the greater Miami Jewish and general community

Youth, Family & Educational Programming

  • Engage with the Early Childhood Academy and religious school families
  • Support and enhance b’nai mitzvah and post–b’nai mitzvah programming
  • Develop innovative programs to increase participation and retention among younger demographics
  • Collaborate with staff, educators, and lay leaders to strengthen the educational pipeline

Ritual & Worship Leadership

  • Participate in and help lead Shabbat, holiday, and lifecycle services
  • Contribute to the creation of meaningful, engaging, and spiritually uplifting worship experiences
  • Deliver sermons and teachings that resonate with a broad audience

Pastoral Care

  • Provide compassionate pastoral support, including:
    • Bikkur cholim (visiting the sick)
    • Shiva minyanim and bereavement support
    • Visits to nursing homes and assisted living facilities
  • Build relationships with and support our Holocaust survivor community

Program Development & Innovation

  • Introduce creative ideas to enhance synagogue life and engagement
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate programs across age groups and interests
  • Support social action initiatives and community outreach efforts

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Serve as an integral member of the clergy team
  • Collaborate with synagogue leadership, staff, and volunteers
  • Participate in board meetings, offering spiritual insight and guidance
  • Grow into leadership responsibilities based on strengths and interests

Qualifications & Desired Attributes

  • Ordination from an accredited rabbinical school (preferably within the Conservative/Masorti movement)
  • A warm, approachable, and engaging personality
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to connect with individuals across generations and diverse backgrounds
  • Creativity, initiative, and strong organizational skills
  • Commitment to both tradition and thoughtful innovation within Conservative Judaism
  • Passion for community building and outreach
  • Comfort in both pastoral settings and public leadership roles
  • Proficiency in English (required); Spanish (strongly preferred)
  • Appreciation for music and communal singing (a plus)
  • Strong Zionist identity and commitment to Jewish communal life
