Description

Camp Kingswood, a premier co-ed Jewish overnight waterfront camp in Maine, is seeking a creative, enthusiastic Theater Specialist to lead our performing arts program and help bring imagination and storytelling to life across camp.

If you love performing, directing, and creating, enjoy working with kids, and want to spend your summer building confidence, creativity, and community through theater, join us to help create the magic of camp!


What You’ll Do

  • Lead daily theater sessions for campers ages 7–17
  • Teach a range of performance skills including improv, acting, clowning, and stage combat
  • Plan and direct skits, performances, and camp-wide productions
  • Guide campers through the creative process—from idea to performance
  • Support and contribute to set design, props, and production elements
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive space where campers feel comfortable expressing themselves
  • Adapt activities for different ages, experience levels, and comfort with performance
  • Encourage creativity, confidence, teamwork, and self-expression

What We’re Looking For

  • Passion for theater, performance, and storytelling
  • Experience in improv, acting, clowning, stage combat, or related performance areas
  • Experience with production elements such as set design, staging, or directing
  • Experience working with children or in a teaching/mentorship role (preferred)
  • Ability to plan engaging, age-appropriate activities
  • Positive, energetic, and collaborative mindset

Community Responsibilities

  • Serve as a cabin counselor during non-program times
  • Participate in all aspects of camp life including meals, evening programs, and camper care
  • Help create a positive, inclusive, and spirited camp community
