Math Specialist (K–8)
The Moriah School

The Moriah School, located in Englewood, NJ, is a Modern Orthodox, co-ed yeshiva day school serving approximately 800 students in grades Toddler–8. We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Math Specialist to join our K–8 faculty.

This position is primarily a teaching role, combined with meaningful opportunities to support and collaborate with teachers to strengthen math instruction across the school. The ideal candidate will be an engaging educator with strong content knowledge, a growth mindset, and the ability to work collaboratively to enhance curriculum, instruction, and student achievement in mathematics.

This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding math educator who loves being in the classroom and is also eager to help elevate math learning schoolwide.

Position Overview

The Math Specialist will spend the majority of the day teaching math classes, including select advanced and/or remedial groups. In addition, the specialist will partner with K–8 teachers to enhance instructional practices, support curriculum implementation, and promote a cohesive and rigorous math program.

Key Responsibilities

Classroom Teaching

  • Teach multiple math classes daily, including advanced and/or remedial groups.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet a range of student needs.
  • Foster strong mathematical thinking, problem-solving skills, and conceptual understanding.
  • Create a positive, engaging classroom environment that builds student confidence and a love of math.
  • Monitor student progress and use assessment data to inform instruction.

Instructional Collaboration & Coaching

  • Support K–8 teachers in implementing effective, research-based math instructional practices.
  • Collaborate with faculty to strengthen alignment of the math scope and sequence.
  • Model lessons and co-plan with teachers when appropriate.
  • Engage in reflective conversations to support teacher growth and student achievement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Mathematics, Math Education, or related field preferred.
  • Strong background in elementary and/or middle school mathematics.
  • Demonstrated success teaching students across a range of abilities.
  • Experience with instructional leadership or coaching is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • A growth mindset and commitment to academic excellence.

Salary range: $65,000-$90,000 based on experience
