Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Grades 5-8 Mathematics Teacher to join our educational team as a maternity leave fill starting in December. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in various mathematical disciplines and demonstrate effective teaching strategies to engage and inspire students. This role requires a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment, promoting critical thinking, and supporting students in their academic growth.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning styles.
• Teach a range of mathematical subjects, including Pre-Algebra and Algebra (NY curriculum grades 5-8)
• Assess student progress through standardized testing, assignments, and classroom participation, providing constructive feedback to support improvement.
• Manage classroom behavior effectively, creating an inclusive environment conducive to learning.
• Mentor students in their academic pursuits, offering tutoring and academic advising as needed.
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and instructional strategies to improve overall educational outcomes.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate regularly with parents regarding progress and areas for improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or a related field; advanced degrees preferred.
• Proven experience working with students in an educational setting, preferably in higher education or private school environments.
• Strong knowledge of mathematical concepts including
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and effectively.
• Demonstrated experience in classroom management and lesson planning.
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate special education needs or diverse learning abilities.
