Executive Director - International Rabbinic Fellowship

The International Rabbinic Fellowship (IRF) is a global network of Orthodox rabbis committed to fostering collaboration, learning, and spiritual growth within the rabbinate. Position Overview

The Executive Director serves as the chief administrative and operational leader of the IRF, responsible for managing all aspects of organizational operations while supporting the mission and strategic vision set by the Board of Directors. From time to time, he or she also serves as a representative of the organization in various public forums. 

This role requires a unique combination of relationship management skills, business and fundraising acumen, and understanding of religious organizational dynamics. The successful candidate will combine these skills with a passion for Orthodox Judaism, Zionism, the rabbinate.

Key Responsibilities

Membership Engagement and Communications

  • Serve as primary point of contact for membership inquiries and develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies
  • Manage and moderate organizational listserv, create newsletters and updates, and maintain  membership database
  • Foster community building and member retention initiatives
  • Represent the organization in various political and communal gatherings

Governance

  • Organize and facilitate regular board and officers' meetings, preparing materials
  • Support board committees and strategic planning initiatives

Event Management

  • Lead planning and execution of annual conference in partnership with conference committee
  • Manage quarterly gatherings (in-person and/or virtual) on relevant topics

 

Financial and Administrative Management

  • Oversee financial operations including budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, and compliance with tax and legal obligations
  • Manage organizational records and coordinate with professional service providers
  • Engage with current donors and cultivate a donor base to maintain the organization’s financial well-being

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and minimum 5 years of executive or senior management experience
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working with boards of directors
  • Proficiency in database management and office software systems
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Proven experience in financial and organizational management, fundraising and event planning
  • Knowledge of Jewish communal structures and Orthodox and rabbinic culture

  • Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity for religious organizational dynamics

  • Commitment to the IRF's mission and flexibility in a dynamic organization

Working Conditions

  • This position can be performed remotely with occasional travel for events and meetings
  • The successful candidate will work closely with the Members and Board of Directors, under the direct supervision of the elected President and Executive Committee 
  • Some evening and weekend work required, with travel for annual conference and other in-person gatherings

Compensation and Benefits

  • Part-time position averaging 8-10 hours per week, with the possibility expansion
  • Candidates with other part-time employment are welcome to apply
  • Starting salary range: $18,000 - $24,000
