Transitional Kindergarten General Studies Lead Teacher Position

2022-23 School Year

 

Gideon Hausner Jewish Day School seeks a dynamic, committed, creative individual to serve as a Lead Teacher in our transitional kindergarten (TK) general studies program. The successful candidate will teach all general studies content areas (language arts, math, science, social studies) along with developmentally appropriate social skills in a transitional kindergarten classroom. This educator will work closely with the other members of the grade level team, including an assistant teacher, to create and implement high quality, engaging, project-based, multi-disciplinary instructional units.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement developmentally appropriate, project-based, multi-disciplinary instructional units aligned with kindergarten readiness.
  • Collaborate with grade level colleagues to plan, integrate, and enhance instruction in all curricular areas.
  • Assist admissions team in organizing recruitment activities, such as Open Houses, Sunday and/or After School Playdates.
  • Assist in onboarding new families to Hausner.
  • Work closely with the Hausner kindergarten team to ensure a smooth transition to kindergarten.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners.

 

  • Network with local preschools to promote Hausner’s TK program.
  • Attend and actively participate in all faculty meetings.
  • Initiate and maintain regular, clear, and respectful communication with parents, including email and phone conversations, and in-person meetings as needed.
  • Participate in special school events including, but not limited to, Open House, Back to School Night, special student performances. Attendance at other community/school events is encouraged.
  • Be willing and able to teach both in person and through a virtual medium such as Zoom.
  • Plan and set up an environment that is inviting, warm, and based on observation of children’s interests and needs, both for the indoors and the outdoors.
  • Integrate with the K-8 school philosophy, mission and vision.



Required Experience/Education:

  • Four-year degree from a college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education or related field.
  • A valid teaching credential and 3-5 years previous teaching experience.
