Job Description: Communications Manager

Who We Are: Camp Tel Yehudah's dynamic program of experiential education, activism and leadership development, connects teens to Israel and Judaism. As Young Judaea's national teen leadership camp, we are a community dedicated to fun, friendships, learning and social action.

About the Position: The Communications Manager oversees capturing, curating, and sharing the story of camp throughout the summer. In partnership with camp leadership, this position manages the communications team—including videographers and photographers—to ensure comprehensive content collection and craft a cohesive, inspiring narrative that can be used during the summer and year-round. This is a leadership team position reporting to the Director of Engagement.

Essential Job Functions:

Content Strategy & Coordination

  • Develop and execute the summer communications plan in partnership with the Director of Engagement and camp leadership
  • Work closely with videographers and photographers to ensure all necessary content is being captured across camp
  • Direct content collection with attention to quality, diversity of activities, and representation of campers
  • Identify content needs for year-round use including holiday greetings, announcements, and ongoing communications

Digital Communications

  • Oversee and create content for daily, weekly, and monthly communications including blog posts and newsletters
  • Work directly with campers and staff to source daily updates and distribute them across communication channels
  • Oversee regular posts on social media platforms including Facebook and Instagram leading up to and during the summer
  • Ensure photos are uploaded to CampMinder regularly
  • Oversee creation of high-quality slideshows, session highlight reels, and other video content

Supervision

  • Supervise communications staff, coordinating schedules and projects to ensure consistent coverage across camp

Camp Culture

  • Create ruach and a positive atmosphere among campers and staff
  • Model positive behavior and serve as a Dugma Ishit (personal example) for both campers and staff
  • Ensure all communications work promotes the mental, physical, and emotional health and safety of all participants

Who You Are:

  • You have previous experience at a Jewish overnight camp
  • You have knowledge of the teen marketing and social media landscape
  • You have strong skills in content curation, social media management, and basic video editing
  • You have experience creating and implementing marketing or communications plans
  • You are skilled in social media strategy and have strong written communication skills
  • You are a self-starter who can work independently while collaborating effectively with leadership
  • You are organized and can manage multiple projects, people, and deadlines simultaneously
  • You are passionate about storytelling and capturing meaningful moments
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy being actively engaged in the camp community
  • You are resilient and flexible, able to pivot plans when necessary while maintaining a positive attitude
