Synagogue Administrative Assistant
Shaarei Tikvah is excited to welcome an administrative assistant who will work with our professional staff to support the day to day operations of the synagogue. The administrative assistant serves an important role in creating a warm and friendly office atmosphere when greeting congregants in person and by phone. This role will also work closely with the Program and Events manager and Executive Director with weekly communications, follow up with members, and logistics for synagogue events.
We are a progressive, engaged Conservative synagogue in Scarsdale, NY. Our community of 300 families has grown tremendously in the past two years. We’ve been described as Westchester’s “hidden gem,” and we expect our growth will continue. Maintaining our culture of connection and hamish feel is important as we expand, and this role will play a key role in supporting our membership.
This is an on-site, full time position.
Job Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Answering phones and emails from congregants and providing general office support
- Managing yahrzeits, birthday, mi sheberach lists, and other important lifecycle events
- Work closely with Executive Director and Program and Events Manager to create registration forms and to promote events
- Provide regular acknowledgements of donations
- Oversee, in partnership with the cemetery committee, the tracking and sale of cemetery plots
Experience, Qualifications, and Skills
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of MS Office, Google Suite, and experience with graphics software such as Canva or Adobe Illustrator
- Strong organizational & time management skills
- Positive attitude towards learning new skills and systems
- Experience working in a non-profit or religious institution preferred
- Experience with ShulCloud a plus

Salary $45,000-50,000 per year + health insurance, paid vacation, sick days, and days off for Jewish and national holidays, short Fridays, parental leave, and synagogue membership.
