Early Childhood Program Coordinator

Part-Time Non-Exempt Employee

Hourly Compensation Range: $21-$30

 

Job Description
The Early Childhood Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and providing a cohesive vision for Temple Beth Tikvah’s educational programs and services aimed at children not yet enrolled in Kindergarten and younger.

This role reports directly to the Executive Director of Temple Beth Tikvah (TBT) and collaborates closely with the clergy to establish and uphold the educational objectives of the temple within its programming, as well as in general ritual practices and holiday observances. The Early Childhood Program Coordinator (ECPC) will play a pivotal role in the development and management of a Jewish community program designed for children aged 16 months to 5.5 years. The coordinator will oversee the planning and execution of educational and cultural activities, ensuring alignment with Jewish traditions and values. This position is for a candidate who is highly organized, culturally knowledgeable, and adept at fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment for young children and their families.

The ECPC will average 10-15hrs per week with preparations, programs and oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer services and programs for children including, though not limited to, the Tehila: Little & Me and Religious School TK.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment necessary for educational programs.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate the curriculum for the early childhood programs.
  • Engage and collaborate with clergy, executive director, youth program coordinator, and lay leaders for holiday observances, special services, learning experiences, and community-building activities that involve children and their families.
  • Set program calendars for early childhood and contribute to the development of the temple calendar.
  • Provide regular program updates to the Vice President of Education and Executive Director.
  • Collaborate on financial and budget management of early childhood programs with the Executive Director and Treasurer.
  • Work with relevant TBT staff and Directors to ensure that rooms and spaces utilized by educational programs are appropriately furnished, arranged, and maintained.
  • Support and maintain TBT’s health, safety, and security procedures.
  • Foster personal connections between youth program coordinator, program participants, and their families.
  • Assist in developing effective communication strategies, public relations, and marketing for the programs.
  • Promote the growth of programs by engaging current and prospective families and overseeing recruitment and registration.
  • Support the planning and execution of age-appropriate and engaging social, educational, and community-building activities for youth, incorporating regular feedback from participants and families to enhance engagement, attendance, retention, and meaningful learning opportunities.
  • Create alternative opportunities for early childhood to engage outside the traditional school framework, such as social events.
  • Staff and assist with other programs and events as needed and based on availability.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience facilitating parent-child interaction, lesson planning, leading songs/activities.

Preferred Skills & Attributes:

  • Flexibility in their schedule for programming opportunities.
  • Experience in group leadership, specifically having been a solo leader in a group setting.
  • Educational certificate, degree, equivalent or practical experience in child development and  family dynamics. 
  • Current certification in CPR and First Aid.
