Position Type: Independent Contractor (12-Month Term) 

About the Contra Costa JCC 

The Contra Costa Jewish Community Center (CCJCC) is a dynamic, community-centered organization serving families, children, and adults throughout Contra Costa County. Our mission is to build meaningful Jewish connection, strengthen community engagement, and create vibrant opportunities for participation across generations. 

As part of our strategic growth and long-term sustainability planning, CCJCC is exploring the launch of a new Jewish day camp initiative. This program will serve as both a vital community engagement vehicle and a mission-aligned, revenue-generating program. 

Position Overview 

CCJCC seeks a highly qualified professional to serve as our Camp Feasibility & Pilot Execution Consultant for a 12-month engagement. Reporting directly to the Executive Director and providing regular updates to the Board of Directors, you will lead the comprehensive assessment, design, and execution of a pilot camp model, culminating in strategic recommendations for long-term scalability. 

Scope of Work & Responsibilities 

  1. Research & Feasibility Assessment
  • Conduct localized demographic and market research. 
  • Analyze the local competitive camp landscape. 
  • Design and lead community surveys and focus groups to gauge interest and needs. 
  • Develop robust financial projections and deliver a comprehensive written feasibility report featuring a clear go/no-go recommendation. 
  1. Pilot Planning
  • Develop a detailed, actionable pilot camp model (including target ages, staffing structures, and line-item budgets). 
  • Create an operational and marketing plan to drive awareness and registration. 
  • Establish clear Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure pilot success. 
  1. Pilot Execution
  • Recruit, interview, and hire qualified camp staff. 
  • Oversee day-to-day program execution and camp operations. 
  • Closely monitor enrollment data, budget pacing, and family satisfaction metrics. 
  1. Evaluation & Strategic Roadmap
  • Deliver a comprehensive final report to leadership evaluating the pilot's outcomes. 
  • Provide a long-term sustainability outlook and an actionable scaling roadmap for future summers. 

Qualifications & Experience 

  • Jewish Camp Expertise: Significant leadership experience within Jewish overnight/day camps or the broader JCC ecosystem. 
  • Industry Standards: Deep familiarity with JCC standards, metrics, and operational best practices. 
  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrated experience successfully launching, piloting, or scaling summer camp programs. 
  • Financial Acumen: Strong financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting skills. 
  • Governance Experience: Comfort working closely alongside nonprofit professional leadership, executives, and Boards of Directors.
