Religious School Teacher

Temple Etz Chaim is a warm Reform congregation in Franklin, MA with a growing and innovative Religious School that meets on Sunday mornings. 

We are looking to hire a Religious School faculty member for the 2026-2027 school year for our 4th/5th grade class - from late September 2026 through May 2027. We meet in-person on Sundays from 9:30am to 12 noon and teachers are expected to be present from 9:15am to 12:15pm. 

Core Responsibilities:

• Prepare creative, interactive lessons with access to comprehensive curriculums through the ShalomLearning platform
• Collaborate with school administration and other faculty members to create innovative and meaningful Jewish learning experiences
• Regularly communicate with families outside of school hours; prepare student evaluations 1x per year
• Assist in the planning and execution of special programs, including holiday celebrations
• Attend at least three faculty meetings and four Family Shabbat services throughout the year outside of school hours
• Provide a sense of caring and concern that enables our students to support one another and grow as individuals

Qualifications/Skills:

• Experience in either Jewish or secular formal or informal education in kindergarten through grade 8
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to teach Hebrew Bible, Jewish history, Jewish values, and Jewish holidays (ideally incorporating arts, drama, movement, or media)
• Comfortable teaching in a Reform Jewish congregation with a diverse student body
• Ability to read (decode) Hebrew
• Experience supporting students with diverse learning styles

Compensation is $40-50 per hour depending on experience.
