POSITION OVERVIEW

VBS Day School and VBS Early Childhood Center are seeking a positive, detail-oriented team player who takes initiative, thinks critically, and has an enthusiasm for learning. The Accounting Manager supports the business operations of both the Day School and Early Childhood Center (ECC), helping to strengthen and maintain sound day-to-day financial practices.

This role requires building effective relationships with faculty, staff, and parents while providing a high level of customer service. The position reports jointly to the Day School Head of Finance and Human Resources and the Synagogue Director of Finance.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including AR/AP, deposits, reconciliations, and data entry in QuickBooks
  • Administer and manage the tuition assistance process
  • Oversee tuition billing, payment plans, collections, and tuition assistance processes
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for families regarding financial questions and documentation
  • Monitor tuition management systems and follow up on outstanding balances
  • Prepare materials for audits and annual financial reviews
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, donation reports, and Parent Organization accounts
  • Support admissions enrollment and re-enrollment processes
  • Assist with budget preparation, payroll support, and new school year business operations
  • Collaborate closely with school leadership, development, and synagogue finance teams
  • Provide backup administrative support and assist with school events as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
  • 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a school or nonprofit environment
  • Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks and tuition/payment platforms (Blackbaud, CampBrain, ShulCloud, or similar)
  • Strong experience with reconciliations, reporting, and audit preparation
  • Advanced Excel skills and excellent organizational abilities
  • Professional, service-oriented communicator with high attention to detail
Salary80,000.00 - 90,000.00 Annual
