High Holiday Cantor/Cantorial Soloist

We are a small (120 member),warm, welcoming, non-affiliated synagogue in the Tampa Bay area looking for a cantor, cantorial soloist or cantorial student to collaborate with our Rabbi for the High Holidays. We use Mishkan haNefesh as our Machzor and musical instruments are encouraged. Piano accompaniment can be arranged, if desired. The candidate should have knowledge of the traditional High Holiday chazzanut, be able to sing and chant most solo pieces and lead the Congregation (we love to sing) in all communal prayers and songs. Our services include Erev Rosh Hashanah, Rosh Hashanah Day (1st day), Kol Nidre, Yom Kippur morning, yizkor, Afternoon service followed by Neilah. A family program/service on the second day of Rosh Hashanah will also be held.

Formal ordination is not required; however experience leading synagogue services is needed. The candidate should be able to work collaboratively with our Rabbi and any other musicians.
