Position Summary:
The USY Community Director – HaNegev fosters vibrant and welcoming communities for Jewish middle and high school youth and teens, empowering them to connect, learn and grow in their Jewish identity. In collaboration with congregations and other community organizations, the Community Director creates compelling, innovative programs that engage youth both within and outside of the synagogue walls.
HaNegev USY Community
Programming and Collaboration
- Plan, recruit, and execute 3 – 4 HaNegev conventions and large-scale programs annually.
- Oversee and support HaNegev USY board and partner with synagogue professionals to lead conventions and community wide initiatives.
- Serve as primary contact for teens, families, and synagogue staff; connect to USY resources.
- Support Arvot and Mercaz synagogues in multi-chapter and citywide programming.
- Lead community communications (newsletters, social media, website, etc.).
- Represent USY/USCJ and support local implementation of international initiatives.
- Evaluate program impact and effectiveness.
Leadership Development
- Guide and support teen leaders in expanding participation and leading community-wide initiatives.
- Serve on and lead HaNegev Community Advisory Council.
- Stay current on trends impacting Jewish teens and integrate into programming.
- Frame a positive and supportive work environment with USCJ’s shared staff values of: collaboration, dedication to the mission, generosity of spirit, innovation and adaptability, integrity, solution-oriented and striving for excellence; accountable for “living the values” in daily work relationships and work product/outcomes.
Atlanta USY Community
Programming and Collaboration
- Plan, recruit, and lead frequent Atlanta-wide programs, including Ein Gedi events and conventions.
- Oversee and support the Atlanta Chapter Presidents Council and partner with synagogue professionals to execute programs.
- Build strong relationships with teens, families, advisors, and congregations.
- Serve as primary contact for teens, parents, advisors, and synagogue leadership.
- Strengthen local youth programs in partnership with synagogues and community leaders.
- Collaborate with Atlanta-area Jewish organizations to maximize engagement.
- Lead community communications (newsletters, social media, website).
- Represent USY/USCJ and implement international initiatives locally.
- Track and evaluate program success (surveys, reporting, data collection).
Leadership Development
- Work closely with the Atlanta Chapter Presidents Council and teen leaders to grow engagement.
- Support teen-led community initiatives.
- Serve on and lead the Atlanta subcommittee of the HaNegev Community Advisory Council.
- Integrate trends and issues impacting Jewish teens into leadership development.
- Frame a positive and supportive work environment with USCJ’s shared staff values of: collaboration, dedication to the mission, generosity of spirit, innovation and adaptability, integrity, solution-oriented and striving for excellence; accountable for “living the values” in daily work relationships and work product/outcomes.

Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Jewish Education, Jewish Studies, Education, or similar field preferred
- 2 to 5 years or more relevant work experience
- Passion for USY’s mission and commitment to empowering Jewish teens
- Significant knowledge of youth development, teen issues and emerging trends, teen engagement and experiential Jewish education
- Experience in immersive Jewish education
- Strong understanding of Jewish youth culture and experience
- Knowledge of Jewish traditions; demonstrated commitment to Conservative Judaism living and/or interest in learning
- Demonstrated people-management and coaching, including conflict management skills
- Excellent relationship-building, leadership and facilitation skills
- Excellent communication (verbal, written and interpersonal) and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience with budget planning and tracking
- Knowledge of how to successfully engage teens on social media platforms preferred
- Proficient in Google Workspace; knowledge of CRMs and other customer platforms preferred; ability to learn online systems and programs quickly; and proficient with video conferencing technologies
Schedule:
This is a Part-Time position requiring 10 – 15 hours per week on average (additional hours during convention weekends)
Schedule varies based on program needs; requires attendance at evening meetings and weekend programs and conventions
Work Environment:
This is a home office position working remotely but must be located within the Atlanta USY community with the ability to travel to various locations throughout the HaNegev USY community
The HaNegev USY Community includes areas in and around Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, and South Carolina
Travel:
Requires travel for programs, synagogue visits, and conventions
Salary Range:
Pay commensurate with experience in a range of $25 – $30 per hour
