General Elementary Education Teacher

Position Summary

The General Elementary Education Teacher is responsible for creating a nurturing, structured, and engaging learning environment that supports students’ academic growth, social-emotional development, and Jewish identity. The teacher integrates general studies with Jewish values and traditions, fostering curiosity, responsibility, and a love of learning while supporting each child’s individual needs.

Preparation & Organization

• Arrives prepared for all lessons, instructional blocks, and supervisory duties
• Plans lessons aligned with curriculum, grade-level expectations, and student needs
• Ensures materials, transitions, and daily routines are well organized and efficient
• Maintains a structured classroom environment that supports learning and independence

Instructional Practice & Student Engagement

• Delivers engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with curriculum
• Uses a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs
• Fosters active student participation, curiosity, and meaningful engagement
• Promotes positive student behavior and a productive learning environment

Classroom Management & Learning Environment

• Maintains a respectful, consistent, and structured classroom environment
• Establishes and reinforces clear expectations for behavior and academic effort
• Builds warm, respectful relationships with students while maintaining appropriate boundaries
• Supports students’ social-emotional growth and responsibility

Supervision, Safety & Policy Enforcement

• Actively and attentively supervises students during recess, lunch, transitions, and non-classroom times
• Ensures student safety and well-being at all times
• Enforces school policies, including uniforms, technology usage, and behavioral expectations

Assessment & Communication

• Uses formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress
• Maintains accurate records of student learning and growth
• Communicates student progress clearly and professionally with families through conferences, reports, and regular updates

Professionalism, Collaboration & Responsibility

• Demonstrates professionalism in interactions with students, colleagues, and families
• Models appropriate language, conduct, and ethical behavior
• Fulfills assigned duties reliably and collaborates positively with colleagues and administrators
• Participates actively in faculty meetings, professional development, and school initiatives

Jewish Values & School Culture

• Models and reinforces Jewish values (middot) throughout the school day
• Supports Jewish holidays, rituals, and school-wide programming
• Upholds and advances the mission and culture of Gotlib Jewish Academy

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (Master’s preferred)
• State teaching certification or eligibility
• Experience in elementary education preferred
• Familiarity with Jewish holidays, traditions, and values (Hebrew language is a plus, if applicable)
