Position Summary

This position is for a senior professional who loves CommUnity. Do you want to be part of a transformational fundraising team with the opportunity to fundraise, supervise, and innovate? If your answer is yes, then this is the job for you!

The Manager plays a key role in creating the strategic direction for the team. They maintain a major gifts portfolio and have oversight of community events, UJAPride, staff campaigns, and other portfolios. The Manager has primary responsibility for staff supervision and development. They establish and oversee the implementation of the team's campaign plans including ultimate accountability for meeting goals. The Manager is responsible for maintaining quality relationships with lay leaders within their portfolio; including fundraising assignments.

Major Responsibilities

· Develop Major Gifts strategy for donor prospects including identification, stewardship and solicitation of these donors.

· Serve as a member of the Manhattan Division Management team and collaborate on strategy for overall division identifying areas within the Manhattan Division for growth.

· Supervise development professional/s and one development assistant.

· Develop strategy and oversight for UJA staff and agency professional campaigns and work with development professional to implement strategy.

· Work closely with Director of Young Leaders to transition strategy as donors age out of Young Leaders including but not limited to recent Cabinet Alumni.

· Work with professional to oversee fundraising strategy for the UJAPride Division.

· Provide leadership to team members for the fundraising efforts and outreach initiatives for the constituency.

· Provide overall management to direct reports by coordinating staff assignments, fostering, teamwork, directing, coaching, getting expectations, providing performance feedback and career development opportunities to ensure that individual and department goals are attained.

· Understand and communicate the UJA-Federation mission and case to lay leadership and the community.

· Build positive UJA-Federation brand awareness among divisions targeted age group of Jewish New Yorkers.

· Develop innovative strategies and cultivate strong relationships with high potential donors to encourage greater levels of donor engagement and commitment to the campaign.

· Communicate and follow up appropriately within the organization to effectively utilize its central resources i.e. Print Shop, Speakers Bureau, Marketing and Communications and Information Technology services.

· Develop a long-term plan regarding leadership development to assure quality lay leadership for upcoming and successive campaigns.

· Maintain a direct portfolio of donors and prospects; work with lay leaders and staff to cultivate, maximize opportunities for relationship building, engage and solicit donors to increase dollars raised and expand donor base.

· Motivate staff and be a positive influence on group dynamics including helping to prevent, solve or mitigate personal and professional issues/conflicts within the Manhattan Division.


· Master’s degree preferred.

· 5-7 years of fundraising experience

· Strategic planning skills, multi-tasking ability and strong organizational skills

· Creative thinking and ability to be a team player

· Strong knowledge of issues facing the Jewish community

· Strong negotiation as well as consensus building skills

· Excellent interpersonal, relationship building, leadership, collaboration, and writing skills.
