Online Chavurah Administrative and Planning Assistant

Chavurat Shalom of Southwest Florida is run by its lay members and is now in need of assistance primarily with the organization of its weekly Friday night Shabbat service conducted over Zoom at 7:30 p.m. for 75-90 minutes. Good communication and organization skills required. 

Duties would include:

1. Assign a lay leader for the weekly Shabbat service from identified volunteers based on their availability;
2. Assist the leader, if requested, to secure volunteers for the Hebrew and English parts of the service (determined by the leader) from a known pool of interested volunteers;
3. Assign a Zoom host and co-host from the limited number of eligible volunteers or assume that function for the week;
4. Assign the weekly D’var (far in advance to allow time for preparation) to a willing volunteer (the actual Torah portions are chanted in Hebrew recorded on YouTube, all of which will be available for every service);
5. Assist the Zoom host, if necessary, to set up the screen share of the Torah parsha by YouTube;
6. Identify special dates such as Rosh Chodesh and upcoming Jewish holidays to be celebrated or discussed at the service and include them in the organization of the Shabbat service;
7. Gather all pertinent information for each Shabbat service and email the order of service with volunteer names to the leader and participants by noon on the Thursday before Friday Shabbat service;
8. Possible Zoom hosting of periodic board meeting or other event; and
9. Possible Zoom host or leader of the Friday Shabbat service if needed or desired.
