About Us

Congregation Beth Sholom is a vibrant and growing Modern Orthodox shul in the heart of the Five Towns dedicated to fostering spiritual growth, Jewish education, and community involvement. The families primarily send their children to HAFTR and HALB, with some in TAG and South Shore as well. The organization seeks a dynamic and passionate Youth Director to organize and inspire youth programming, while serving as a positive role model and creating positive relationships with participants and parents.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate a strong youth culture within the shul through the development and implementation of religious, educational, and social programming.
  • Plan and implement a balanced calendar of youth activities that integrates with the shul’s overall program calendar, in coordination with the Executive Director.
  • Plan and oversee all youth activities, including Shabbos/Yom Tov morning groups, non-Shabbos monthly activities for different age groups, and seasonal programs such as Purim and pre-Pesach events.
  • Publicize youth programs through various channels, ensuring that materials are professional and visually appealing, in coordination with the Executive Director to maintain consistency with shul-wide communications and branding.
  • Hire, manage, and evaluate student leaders for youth groups, in coordination with the Executive Director regarding hiring processes, onboarding, and payroll procedures.
  • Work in coordination with the Executive Director on program budgets, including expense tracking and approval of program-related expenditures.
  • Coordinate with the Executive Director regarding room scheduling, facility usage, and logistical needs for all programs.
  • Coordinate program logistics, including vendors, supplies, and event setup requirements, in collaboration with the Executive Director.
  • Work with the Executive Director on program registration, participant tracking, and any associated payments or fees.
  • Collaborate with the Rabbi and Youth Committee, reporting regularly and seeking approvals as needed.
  • Ensure all programming and staffing align with synagogue policies and procedures, in coordination with the Executive Director.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience: in youth programming, education, or related fields.
  • Excellent skills: in leadership, communication, and organization.
  • Ability: to connect with and inspire youth of various ages.
  • Creative approach: energetic and enthusiastic in program development.
  • Availability: to work evenings, weekends, and Jewish holidays as needed.
  • Ethical demeanor: approachable and committed to fostering positive relationships.
