About Cohen Camps
The Eli and Bessie Cohen Camps Organization operates three distinct Jewish overnight camps — Camp Pembroke (all-girls in Pembroke, MA), Camp Tevya (co-ed in Brookline, NH), and Camp Tel Noar (co-ed in Hampstead, NH) — along with travel and alumni programs under a shared organizational umbrella. Cohen Camps is known for strong leadership, operational excellence, and a deep sense of community that spans decades. Now, we are looking to build on that foundation, centralizing our marketing function and investing in the infrastructure needed to grow enrollment and philanthropy, deepen alumni engagement, and strengthen our brand. This new role is central to that effort.
The Opportunity
You will be stepping into an organization with passionate staff, loyal families, and a beloved brand. The Director of Marketing + Communications will report to the Executive Director of the Cohen Camps, supervise the Social Media + Marketing Coordinator, and work closely with the Development Director, Camp Directors, and Dor L’Dor Director. This is a full-time role, however, for the right candidate, a part-time arrangement would be considered.
This role is right for someone who finds real satisfaction in both the strategic and being hands on, someone who can lead a planning session with directors in the morning and spend the afternoon writing a newsletter, building a content calendar, or troubleshooting a CRM workflow. The right candidate also has a passion for conveying the joy of Jewish summer camp to enrolled families, alumni, donors, and prospects.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy + Planning
- Plan and oversee the annual marketing and communications strategy across all three camps and programs that support enrollment, alumni engagement, annual giving, capital campaigns, and special fundraising initiatives.
- Build and manage a quarterly content calendar spanning enrollment and development moments, coordinating with Camp Directors and the Development Director to ensure alignment across teams.
- Develop audience-specific messaging tracks for prospective families, current families, alumni, and donors.
- Establish brand consistency across communications.
- Collaborate with Camp Directors to gather content needs and provide strategic communications support.
Content + Communications
- Write, edit, and oversee newsletters, blog posts, and marketing collateral across all three camps and programs that strengthen engagement and support philanthropic goals.
- Write, edit, and oversee paid media/ad creation and placement. Serve as the organization’s PR media contact and point person.
- Support the writing and production of fundraising and development communications including donor appeals, campaigns, acknowledgments, and impact reports.
- Develop foundational messaging and prospective family materials.
- Provide strategic guidance on social media communications.
- Support and expand video content production.
Systems + Operations
- Establish digital asset management practices for centralized photo and video libraries.
- Create intake forms, review workflows, and campaign templates to streamline requests from camp and development teams.
- Update and maintain camp websites (WordPress) and email platform (Constant Contact).
- Develop data-driven reporting and engagement practices, including surveys, email analytics, lead tracking, donor segmentation, and CRM workflows that support enrollment, fundraising, and stewardship goals.
Qualifications
- 5-7 years of professional experience in marketing, communications, or a closely related field.
- Exceptional written communication skills – clarity, warmth, and attention to audience.
- Strong project management and organizational skills; able to manage multiple workstreams independently.
- Collaborative working style with the ability to earn trust and influence.
- Experience with marketing technology including email marketing, social media, content and video editing, web platforms, and CRM systems preferred.
- Experience in a Jewish communal organization, summer camp, school, or similar mission-driven environment preferred.
- Experience in paid and earned media preferred.
Compensation + Benefits
$90,000 - $110,000 annually for a full-time position. We are open to discussing a part-time arrangement for the right candidate, with compensation prorated based on hours and scope of responsibilities. Generous PTO, comprehensive health and dental insurance package, 403(b) plan, reduced camp tuition for eligible children.
Work Location
This position is based in our Cohen Camps year-round office in Wellesley, MA. This is a hybrid position, with flexibility for some remote work; however, the role is primarily in person, as collaboration and relationship-building are central to our work.
