Am Kolel, a Jewish Renewal community in the D.C. area, is seeking a part time (20-30 hours per week) Managing Director for our organizational, congregational and administrative needs.

Am Kolel, founded in 199O, is an inclusive Jewish community that meets the unmet needs of Jews and loved ones in the DC area and responds to social and environmental issues grounded in Jewish values.

We sponsor a Shabbat Havurah (fellowship community) and a Judaic Resource Center. We are known for our spiritual openness, community-wide programs, and our engagement in Tikkun Olam (social action and eco justice) and building bridges with others in the non Jewish community.   Am Kolel incubates new Jewish communities and other organizations that serve the wider community.   We have launched such organizations as Jews United for Justice and the Senior Center of Western Montgomery County.

Duties:

  • Overall responsibility for office management
  • Provide oversight to ensure all office systems are operating efficiently
  • Working with our virtual accounting firm; oversight of our accounting system and accounts, monthly meetings with treasurer and bookkeeper.
  • Support administrative assistant in data management
  • Support the rabbi and program committees with tasks such as reserving space, ordering supplies, set up and break down.
  • Oversee general office and building upkeep, ensuring all spaces are well maintained.
  • Work with staff and Board to determine space usage and needs
  • Work with the Board reviewing existing policies and developing new policies concerning the functioning and safety of the community.
  • Coordinate vendors, including custodial and maintenance
  • Facilitate coordination of food for Shabbat and other programs.
  • Provide support with fundraising efforts
  • Work with president of the board in preparing for Board of Directors meetings.
  • Flexibility with other duties as needed.


 Requirements:
        •      Three years related experience
        •       Reside in D.C. area, preferably Montgomery County. Car needed.
        •       Outstanding organizational skills
        •       Knowledge of essential computer software programs, including Microsoft

 

Word and Excel.  Experience with QuickBooks.
        •       Comfortable with use of social media
        •       Familiarity with Jewish community
        •       Team player 

This position is 20-30 hours per week, hybrid, and includes benefits and the opportunity to grow.   This contract is an at-will employment agreement.  The initial contract period is for a year.  Desired start date mid-June or July, 2026

        •       The salary range is $45,000 - $65,000
        •       A benefits package includes a contribution to health insurance, generous vacation/sick time, and parental leave.
        •       Subsidies for professional conferences.
