Position Summary:

Congregation Beth El (Beth El), a thriving Conservative synagogue serving more than 750 families and over 100 children in our Early Childhood Center, seeks a highly motivated, organized, and passionate Events & Programs Manager with excellent communication and customer service skills.  Under the supervision of the Engagement Director, the Events & Programs Manager provides essential administrative, logistical, and creative support. This position collaborates closely with the “Engagement Team” - including staff responsible for Marketing & Communications, Facilities, and Lifecycle Coordination - to coordinate and manage events and programs, ensuring the successful planning, execution, and evaluation.  

Position Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Engagement Director, and in collaboration with the EngagementTeam, professional staff, and clergy, the Events & Programs Manager will:

  • Coordinate the creation of the annual calendar of events.
  • Plan and manage programs and events, from inception to implementation, close-out and reporting.
  • Engage and collaborate with lay leaders and members in program development and execution.
  • Coordinate with vendors related to events and programs.
  • Support the auxiliary groups in scheduling and implementing their programs.
  • Provide on-site support, as required, for events and programs, including High Holidays.
  • Complete administrative tasks related to direct responsibilities, including, but not limited to: event registration and setup, database management, generating reports, and preparing mailings and communications.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of an associate’s degree or equivalent from an accredited institution of higher education
  • A minimum of 3 years experience coordinating or managing events and programs
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database systems, including CRMs (Customer Relations Management systems)
  • Ability to learn new software quickly
  • Ability to adapt under changing circumstances and remain calm under pressure
  • Self-starter and flexible team player
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and manage frequent interruptions
  • Ability to make independent decisions
  • Experience and patience working with diverse individuals and groups
  • Availability to work programs scheduled on evenings or weekends
