Part-Time Rabbi/Cantor – Springfield, Illinois

Temple Israel, a small, warm, transdenominational congregation with Conservative roots, is seeking a part-time rabbi to lead meaningful Shabbat services, deliver engaging sermons, teach Torah study, and offer pastoral support.

About Us: Located in Illinois’ capital city (population ~115,000) and home of Abraham Lincoln, Springfield is a friendly, accessible community about 1.5 hours north of St. Louis and 3.5 hours south of Chicago.

Position Details:

• Lead Friday evening and Saturday morning services two weekends per month
• Provide sermons, Torah study, and one-on-one meetings
• Collaborate with congregants who assist with davening and Torah/Haftarah chanting
• Visits typically Thursday–Sunday or Friday–Monday

Qualifications: Rabbinic or Cantorial ordination; strong service leadership and teaching skills; warm pastoral presence.

Compensation: Negotiable.
