Who We Are: Camp Tel Yehudah's dynamic program of experiential education, activism and leadership development, connects teens to Israel and Judaism. As Young Judaea's national teen leadership camp, we are a community dedicated to fun, friendships, learning and social action.

About the Position: This educator joins the Chinuch team to develop and implement educational programming that deepens campers' connection to Jewish identity, community, and culture. Programming areas include Jewish peoplehood, Israel education, and leadership development. This role combines creative educational planning with hands-on facilitation, creating meaningful Jewish experiences that resonate with teen participants from diverse backgrounds. Working closely with the Education Director, camp Rabbi, and Chinuch team, this educator helps shape the Jewish identity development of campers and staff throughout the summer.

Key Responsibilities:

Educational Programming

  • Design and implement engaging educational programming in areas such as Jewish peoplehood, Israel education, leadership development, Jewish history, or contemporary Jewish identity
  • Develop educational experiences exploring Jewish communities worldwide, Israeli society, Jewish diversity, and teen leadership
  • Facilitate discussions on Jewish identity, culture, and values that resonate with teens from diverse backgrounds
  • Create opportunities for campers to explore what being Jewish means to them personally
  • Collaborate with counselors and specialists to implement educational programming that is experiential and engaging for chanichim

Jewish Culture & Community Building

  • Support the Chinuch team in creating meaningful Jewish moments throughout camp life
  • Collaborate with the camp Rabbi and Chinuch team on Jewish ritual and cultural observance, including Shabbat, holidays, and daily practices
  • Assist in making traditional practices accessible and engaging for teens from all Jewish backgrounds
  • Train and support staff in facilitating Jewish experiences for their bunks

Chinuch Team Collaboration

  • Partner with the Education Director, Rabbi, and Chinuch team to ensure cohesive educational vision across all programming
  • Participate in curriculum planning, staff training, and ongoing professional development
  • Contribute to peulot erev (evening programs), all-camp educational initiatives, and special events
  • Support other educational programming areas as needed
  • Attend regular Chinuch team meetings and leadership meetings as required

Staff Training & Support

  • Prepare and lead staff training sessions on Jewish identity, facilitation skills, and educational content during pre-camp
  • Provide ongoing support and resources to counselors throughout the summer
  • Model best practices in experiential Jewish education
  • Offer consultation to staff working on bunk-level Jewish programming

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Jewish Education, Jewish Studies, Israel Studies, History, Education, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Knowledge of Jewish history, culture, and contemporary Jewish communities
  • Experience working with adolescents in informal educational settings
  • Comfort facilitating group discussions and creating inclusive Jewish spaces
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team environment
  • Openness to engaging with Jewish ritual and tradition in a pluralistic setting
  • Experience and comfort leading Jewish ritual is preferred
  • Hebrew language skills preferred but not required
  • Previous camp experience strongly preferred
  • Enthusiasm for experiential and informal education
  • Commitment to pluralistic Jewish community building

Compensation/Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $3500-$10,000 commensurate with experience
  • Room and board
