POSITION TITLE: MARKETING & COMMUNICATION ASSOCIATE 

Location: Remote/Online (Default)/In person meetings, as needed

Reporting to: Manager, Marketing & Communications 

Start Date: as soon as possible 

Salary Range: $50,000 - $55,000 plus competitive benefits package 

 

THE ROLE 

Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ) seeks a Marketing & Communications Associate to strengthen its mission and share its story. WRJ is a network of Jewish women working together to empower women and communities worldwide through the bonds of sisterhood, spirituality, and social justice. The Marketing & Communications Associate will provide critical support to promote, market, and enhance WRJ’s mission while implementing its branding for events and programs, leadership conferences, fundraising campaigns, and other WRJ initiatives. This position works in conjunction with the events, engagement, advocacy, and philanthropy teams on various projects and will work closely with the entire WRJ staff. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO 

The Marketing & Communications Associate reports to the Manager of Marketing and Communications is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:  

     COMMUNICATIONS 

  • Serve as a co-brand ambassador for the organization; support the implementation of WRJ’s new logo and messaging map consistently throughout communications.  
  • Assist in identifying public relations opportunities, write press releases, send out and follow up with news outlets. 
  • Keep WRJ up to date on the latest marketing, branding, social media best practices to move our communications to the next level.  
  • Help develop, schedule, and post content on all social media channels.  
  • Write and coordinate with other writers with a focus on stories that spotlight WRJ leaders, advocacy work, and philanthropic impact in the Jewish community and beyond. 

     MARKETING 

  • Manage the weekly e-newsletter which includes editing submitted pieces, gathering advocacy alerts, program/event information, and other news items. Help brainstorm new story ideas and update the digest tracker.  
  • Coordinate and implement marketing campaigns surrounding major WRJ events, programs, and fundraising initiatives. 
  • Produce a monthly program calendar and distribute to staff and lay leaders.  
  • Assist in updating the WRJ website and creating and editing graphics and videos. 
  • Work with other staff members/portfolios to help market and promote their events and programs. 
  • Additional marketing/communications projects as assigned. 

WHO YOU ARE & KEYS TO SUCCESS (THE MUST-HAVES): 

To be successful in this job, you excel in the following areas: 

  • A Great Communicator: Clear, efficient, and effective writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Impactful storyteller who can write and tell a story on different forms of media. Constant Contact experience or another email marketing platform is strongly preferred. Graphic design knowledge and/or Canva experience is a plus.  
  • A Skillful Marketer: Working knowledge of marketing strategies, digital tools, social media, and best practices. Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office applications and other internet applications. Comfortable learning new platforms where necessary. Hootsuite and/or Drupal or other web content management platform experience is a plus. 
  • A Forward Thinker: Advanced organizational and planning skills are needed. Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and multitask. Ability to coordinate activities and see a project through from start to finish.  
  • An Independent Worker and a Team Player: Ability to work independently or as a member of the team. Manage stress effectively in a fast-paced environment and be willing to ask questions when challenges arise. 
  • A Critical Thinker: Ability to look at information from an audience and/or user-friendly standpoint and present that information in a clear and engaging way. 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends, some of which may involve travel. 
  • Experience in nonprofit and/or Jewish organization is a plus. 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience 
  • Marketing/Communications experience is preferable. 
  • This is a remote working position.
