POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a passionate, community-minded, and highly organized Director of Community Engagement & Office Management to play a dual role: leading our outreach, volunteer, and educational engagement efforts while also ensuring smooth and welcoming daily operations in our Scottsdale office. This full-time, in-person position is essential to advancing our mission, strengthening community partnerships, and creating an efficient, warm environment for staff, volunteers, visitors, and donors.

The ideal candidate is energized by social action, enjoys meeting and engaging with people of all ages, and thrives in a dynamic setting balancing community-facing work with detailed administrative responsibilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILIES:

Community Engagement & Program Leadership (50%)

  • Lead, plan, and support in-person and virtual community programs and events.
  • Oversee the Shalom Pantry, an onsite food pantry, and humanitarian relief buses by organizing donations, greeting and assisting guests and coordinating volunteer efforts.
  • Organize volunteer opportunities for people of all ages inspired by Jewish values.
  • Assist with educational programming by attending virtual classes and supporting in-person lectures and events.
  • Participate in donor meetings and assist development staff with donor engagement and grant reporting requirements.
  • Join activist spaces such as rallies, service projects, and community gatherings that align with our mission.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with local community organizations in the social action and Jewish engagement spaces.
  • Engage in community outreach and relationship building with volunteers, donors, fellows, and partner organizations.
  • Manage a team of local staff by providing guidance, support, and supervision and ensuring coordinated, high-quality community engagement efforts.

Office Management & Administrative Support (50%)

  • Serve as the first point of contact by greeting visitors, answering phones, and offering professional and friendly customer service when in the office. 
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail, including preparing and depositing checks and supporting bi-annual donor mail campaigns.
  • Supervise in-office staff to maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming office environment.
  • Oversee the acceptance and organization of donations of physical goods delivered to the office.
  • Monitor and replenish office supplies as needed and coordinate scheduling of repairs and maintenance when necessary 
  • Provide executive assistance to the President as needed, including scheduling support, document preparation, and general administrative coordination.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong organizational, communication and multitasking skills.
  • College degree or equivalent years of work experience.
  • Professional, friendly, and service-oriented demeanor.
  • Proficiency with email, calendars, Zoom, Google Workspace and CRM software or ability to learn new software quickly
  • Alignment with and commitment to the organization’s mission and values.
  • Comfort working in a Jewish organizational setting with some knowledge of Jewish culture and customs preferred
  • Comfort with public speaking and enthusiasm for meeting new people.
  • Independent, organized self-starter able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Must be located in the Greater Phoenix area and able to work onsite.
  • Background check required.

STRUCTURE, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • 40 hours per week
  • Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm with some occasional hours during evenings or on Sundays
  • In-office position
  • Annual salary of $50,000–$60,000, commensurate with experience
  • Health insurance with generous employer contribution
  • Paid time off: 10 vacation days per year, plus numerous paid federal and Jewish holidays (when they fall on weekdays)

  • This position reports to the President & Dean
