Major Gifts Officer

The Aleph Institute is seeking an experienced Major Gifts Officer (MGO) to join our development team and help advance our mission through meaningful donor engagement and support. This position’s focus is to build relationships, connect with donors, re-engage past supporters, and introduce new individuals and foundations to Aleph’s work. The ideal candidate will be deeply familiar with the Orthodox Jewish community and culture, who is charismatic, creative, and comfortable in a relationship-driven role. Additionally, the MGO will enjoy inspiring others to give, brings personality and warmth to their work, and can connect with people in ways that align their philanthropic goals with Aleph’s mission. 

The Major Gifts Officer will be responsible for managing all aspects of his/her donor development cycle, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, acknowledgment, and stewardship. The primary focus will be on cultivating relationships with major donors and prospects with significant giving capacity. As part of the Development team, this role will be instrumental in growing the resources that allow Aleph to continue its mission of bringing hope, connection, and support to individuals and families struggling through their darkest hours.

This is a full-time position, with the ideal candidate located in the Tri-State area, Miami, or Los Angeles.

Key Responsibilities

• Solicit major gift prospects, moving them along the donor pipeline and tailoring asks based on donor intent and interests.
• Develop and implement stewardship strategies to sustain and grow major donor relationships.
• Cultivate and steward donor leads, grant makers, and potential foundations.
• Conduct regular 1:1 meetings with existing and prospective donors.
• Manage and maintain consistent correspondence with donors and supporters, including updates on Aleph’s work and personalized engagement.
• Lead all stages of the donor cycle: identification, cultivation, solicitation, acknowledgment, and stewardship.

Qualifications and Skills

• Deep familiarity with the Orthodox Jewish community and culture.
• Great at developing new relationships from scratch.
• Excellent cross-cultural communication and interpersonal skills.
• Charismatic and personable, with strong presentation and relationship-building abilities.
• Experience working in a nonprofit environment in development or fundraising.
• Mission-driven and motivated to further Aleph’s work.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and able to manage goals independently.
• Creative and dynamic approach to engaging and inspiring donors.
• Social media, Google Suite, CRM (Salesforce a plus), and e-mail marketing experience preferred.

Details

• Full-time position on the Development team, reporting to the CEO.
• Location: Miami, Tri-state area, or Los Angeles preferred; remote considered for the right candidate.
• Base salary range from $90,000 to $180,000, with greater earning potential based on performance.
