4th Grade Sunday School Teacher Needed for Creative, Progressive, Welcoming School

The Jewish Collaborative Sunday School is a joint project of Machar, Beth Chai, and Kehila Chadasha - an independent, progressive congregation and two Jewish humanist congregations. We meet on Sunday mornings from 9:30 am to noon in Garrett Park, MD, not far from the Beltway and Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro.  We are a small, energized school that values hand-on learning, creative expression, social action, and community. Our class sizes are small and our salaries are competitive.   We use the Shalom Learning curriculum. 

We are seeking a creative, enthusiastic teacher to begin in January. Our curriculum emphasizes Jewish culture, history, values and peoplehood rather than ritual practice, theology, and Hebrew. We are social justice-oriented and also care about instilling in students a strong Jewish identity, an appreciation of Judaism and a connection to the Jewish people.

We are looking for a teacher who is creative, enjoys project-based learning, and will challenge our students to think thoughtfully about their Jewish identity.
