Description
Our client is a Jewish social service agency based in New York City.
 
The organization seeks a Managing Director of Strategic Operations to support the management and coordination of internal operations and program execution. This role focuses on supervising staff, managing workflows, and strengthening day-to-day operational processes, including logistics and coordination, to ensure cross-team work is organized, consistent, and well-supported.
 
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Managing Director works closely with program leadership and central operations staff to manage people, oversee processes, and support the effective execution of organizational priorities. This is a hybrid position, four days in the office and one day remote.
 
Responsibilities
  • Manage and supervise staff as assigned, providing clear direction, performance feedback, and ongoing managerial support
  • Oversee operational workflows and internal processes, including logistics, scheduling, and coordination of resources, to ensure tasks are tracked, documented, and completed on schedule
  • Coordinate across teams to support the smooth execution of programs and shared operational responsibilities
  • Support managers and staff with planning, scheduling, and workload management, including operational and logistical needs
  • Partner with finance and operations leadership to monitor budgets, track spending, and support financial controls
  • Coordinate grant tracking, documentation, and reporting in collaboration with development and finance teams
  • Prepare internal operational reports and summaries for leadership, including updates on logistics and execution
  • Support annual planning by translating priorities into work plans and tracking implementation
  • Identify operational and logistical challenges and recommend practical process improvements
  • Support the rollout and adoption of internal systems, tools, and standard operating procedures
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Master’s degree a plus
  • 7–10 years of relevant experience in nonprofit or mission-driven organizations
  • Demonstrated experience supervising staff and managing ongoing operational and logistical functions
  • Experience supporting budgets, grants, compliance, and operational coordination
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with a professional, discreet management style
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with internal reporting and tracking tools
 
 
 

 

Salary190,000.00 - 210,000.00 Annual
