We are seeking a passionate, energetic, and caring educator to join our team as a Grade 2 Judaic Studies Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year.

Position Overview

The Grade 2 Judaic Studies Teacher will be responsible for creating a positive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment while teaching core Judaic subjects. The ideal candidate will foster a love for Torah, Hebrew, Tefilah, and Jewish values while supporting students academically, socially, and emotionally.

Responsibilities

Subjects Taught

  • Tefilah
  • Ivrit (Hebrew language)
  • Kriah (Hebrew reading)
  • Chumash foundations
  • Chagim/Jewish Holidays
  • Yehadut/Jewish values and traditions

Teaching Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging Judaic Studies lessons aligned with school goals and curriculum
  • Teach Hebrew reading and language skills using differentiated instruction
  • Foster student growth in Tefilah participation and understanding
  • Create meaningful and hands-on learning experiences around Chagim and Jewish life
  • Support the development of positive middot, responsibility, and classroom community
  • Maintain a structured, nurturing, and positive classroom environment
  • Monitor student progress and communicate regularly with families
  • Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administration
  • Write report card comments and maintain student records
  • Participate in school events, assemblies, and holiday programming

Qualifications

Required

  • Background in Judaic Studies and Hebrew language instruction
  • Experience teaching elementary-age students
  • Strong Hebrew reading and language skills
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills
  • Warm, patient, and collaborative approach to teaching
  • Passion for Jewish education and child-centered learning

Preferred

  • Experience in a Jewish day school setting
  • Familiarity with differentiated instruction and early literacy development
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Judaic Studies, or related field
