About the Position

Congregation Kehillath Israel in Brookline, MA is seeking creative, enthusiastic, and dynamic educators for our religious school (KIRS). Our school meets twice per week on Monday and Thursday afternoons from 3-5 pm. A Thursday-only position may be possible.  Some Shabbat programming may be built into the schedule for the school year as well.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead engaging, meaningful lessons in a supportive environment
• Foster a joyful, relationship-centered classroom culture
• Work closely with other KIRS teachers, KI staff, and the KIRS Educational Leadership Fellow

The ideal candidate should have the following qualities/experience:

• Proficiency in Hebrew, Judaic Studies, and Jewish Ritual
• A vibrant and charismatic personality
• The ability to give and receive guidance, constructive feedback, and support
• The ability to generate enthusiasm for Jewish learning and Jewish life in the classroom
• Comfort with an experiential learning and/or informal learning environment
• Prior teaching experience, work as a camp counselor, or other work with children is preferable.

Congregation Kehillath Israel (KI), located in the heart of Brookline’s historic Coolidge Corner, is a warm and welcoming conservative synagogue with a 100+year history.  Our campus is home to four other prayer communities (Congregation Mishkan Tefilah, Washington Square Minyan, Minyan Shalem, and Minyan Alumot), a bustling pre-school, and a growing religious school, as well as a number of Jewish communal partner organizations, including Yachad and 2Life Communities.  

Salary

Salary ranges from $20-$60/hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
